Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

Hey! So funny. I actually posted on that site in the comment section asking the same question as I did above.

He just answered it, complete with photo of the inside of the microwave! Great info!

It's "He"! Just put up the full post on the oven this morning.

How much of a walk is it to the pool, marina from cabins? Probably would rent a cart but not sure.

Also, for carts I've read 6 seaters are not reserved but first come? We have 2 adults, 4 kids (8-6-4-1) can we all fit in a 4 seater? And what can you do with a stroller?

Does anyone have any pictures of the kids water play area?

Thanks

Questions here, too:

1) Does anyone know of an e-mail point of contact for Ft Wilderness?

2) How long does it take to get from MK to the cabin, or from a cabin to MK, by boat on average?

Thanks!!

I don't know about an e-mail address but it's about a 15 minute ride either way from or to MK once you get on the boats

We are going to magic kingdom the morning we check out. Where can we park our car at ft wilderness once we check out??? Is there an actual parking lot? Is it at all close to the boat trasportation site?

Also can anyone tell me what cabin locations/loops are their favorites?? I was thinking maybe 2200 or 2300 might be nice??

We had four adults and three kids (5, 5, 3). We had three small strollers. We fit all of us and the strollers on a six seater each day!

Yep! There is an actual (large) parking lot at Fort Wilderness.

There is a parking lot at the front of the campground by the bus stop. There is no car parking at the boat dock. You would have to park at the front and take the internal bus back to the boat dock

There are too many variables to determine this as cabin loops and placements in the cabin come into place. Also, I would need to know if you planned to take a golf cart, bus or walk to the docks.

The last trip at FW, we only made it to MK twice. I think we averaged about 30 minutes from cabin, loop 2800 near entrance of loop, to MK docks. It took about 5 minutes via golf cart to the Outpost and then a few minutes to walk to the docks. Then there were short waits for the boat and off to MK. Returning mid-day was about the same as going, but returning after fireworks required waiting for a couple boats and then extra road traffic at FW so about 60 minutes.

Way too far to walk to any of the above. Well, actually there are two pools, but even a close loop would be a long walk. As far as the marina goes, it is at one end of the resort, next you have the campsites, then you have the cabins -- if you don't mind a 20 minute walk, plus or minus, you could do it I suppose. If you look at the map below, you can see the marina all the way on the left -- all of the numbers in the 1,000s are campsites for tents and RVs, the 2,000s are the cabins. You can also see where the pools are as well.

We stayed at a 2100 loop cabin and found the walk to the Meadow pool and campfire area was quick and easy. You can cut through the 1100 camping loop. It's maybe 10 minutes? Really doable. And we had 6.5 yr olds in tow.

The 2500 and 2600 loops are very close to the quiet pool.

Those are our favorite loops.
The ones right across from the quiet pool and the laundry room. Pretty convenient as long as you got a golf cart to go to the other places.

Can anyone tell me where the playgrounds are located? We've decided to go this May instead of the following May (yea!!) and are going to make our reservation and would love to request a cabin that is near a playground so we can have a short walk there with our two-year-old.

Someone posted a map a little ways back in the thread. The playgrounds are noted at the marina, the main swimming pool, and near the 1300 loop. Looks like 2200 or 2100 would be the closest to the one at 1300. 2100 loop isn't being refurbished right now like the other cabins so you may not want that loop if you want an updated cabin.

Thanks so much. Can you tell me which loops have and haven't been refurbished? Is the 2100 the only loop that hasn't been refurbished, or are there others?

The schedule for the cabin refurb here:

I loved the location of 2100. We were in 2136 which was right by the path to the laundry room. Sounds like Disney has something in the works for this loop but information is lacking on exact details.

hello it will be our first time going to the fort and my husband is wounding if he can bring a small utv. its like a golf cart but a little bigger.
