If the WDW workers could earn a living wage (Disney Corporate would have to get by on a few million less) then there would be no problem getting staff that would work hard and smile. Maybe instead of Occupy Wall Street, it should be Occupy Main Street @ WDW. :cool2:

On top of all that, as noted upthread, there's the labor issue. They're literally going to have to import labor into the Orlando area in order to staff a 5th park and additional resorts.

they already do import labor - haven't you noticed how many CMs are from Turkey?

when we were there in august, it seemed as if half the CMs we spoke with were from Turkey...

Or they are college kids.

Which is kind of the same thing. they get little-no pay (I'm not sure if they get paid at all) and in most cases no credit for school

Is this for real? Is there really going to be a new land, with the above mentioned attractions? and if so when, and if so, where is the info from?

disneysource, if you're making this up I give you an A for creativity, if you're not, then I'm excited about it. I think that 5th park threads are the most interesting of any Disney Forum.:)

Sigh. There is NO 5TH PARK COMING IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE!!!!!

I'm so sick of these rumors. Can someone please delete these threads or at least can everyone stop posting on it so it will fade into obscurity???

Jeez!

on a side note lockedoutlogic would be proud of me for another rant.

well, when someone posts something with such detail, I want to know where the information came from. When I get the answer, I will then choose if I will read this thread or not. Whether it is closed or not, we all have a choice to click on it and read it, or pass it by.
:O)

There was concept art and rumored attractions. That's it.

Its the truth, but like many have said it probably won't happen for another 10 years. There's too much money being invested in the current parks at the moment to create a new one..

I agree with Steeler's Midget. Ridiculous post! If you read this and decide "I can't wait" you are going to be waiting a LONG time - like FOREVER. They are NEVER EVER EVER going to build something like this, unless you pick up EPIC MICKEY. Even if they ever were going to build a 5th gate...it would NOT be this.

C'MON, just look at the concept. There going to build an entire park of EXACTLY IDENTICAL RIDES to the existing park? Please.

Sure because it's commonplace for Disney to invest resources creating and naming attractions which aren't scheduled to be built for 10 years. :rolleyes1

Disney doesn't even know what they will be putting in Avatar Land come 2013, but they've got Dark Kingdom all mapped out for 2021. How could anyone even question this?!?! :lmao:

That's like saying Rockin Rollercoasters just like Big Thunder. They are very different parks.

10 years? Don't make me laugh. There is no way this is going to happen until Disney needs a 5th gate for capacity reasons and can manage the labor issues involved. When the perpetual discounts dry up, then maybe you can convince me that they're starting to run anywhere near capacity, and even then, expanding existing parks is cheaper than building a 5th gate.

No, a 5th park, no matter what it's going to be, isn't something we're going to see until the kids being taken the WDW by their parents start bringing their kids to WDW. If then.

I can't see them even beginning construction on something like this is less than 15 years, let alone 10.

I was there in August and while waiting for the boat once one of the CM's was telling us in line that WDW would never develop more then 30% of their land. The have developed 28%. It's from a CM so take it for what it's worth but that doesn't seem like something to lie about or that would be false to me.

Almost -- they'll never develop a third of the land. The rest -- two-thirds of it -- is fair game.

As of a few years ago, only a third had been developed -- but I imagine all the DVC resorts, de-annexation and sale of property to Four Seasons and such, development of 1 Percent Land (Golden Oak), etc. has changed the equation a bit.

On a recent KTTK tour, the guide said they have almost enough land to build everything they've build all over again, which is I think an exaggeration... but they do still have plenty of land left over.

The reason that they don't have the designs for Avatar is because it's such a new deal. Jim Hill said that Joe Rhode only found out about it like a week before it was announced. On the other hand, with Dark Kingdom, it seems like the concept has been around for decades. From the titles of the attractions etc., it looks as if they are pretty much done with design and development. It's just a matter of priorities. Also, and I'm going to try to be polite about this, those who gripe and are annoyed by the topic of a 5th gate - why don't you leave this thread and find one that interests you instead of complaining with extra exclamation marks. There doesn't seem to be anything productive coming out of your vented anger.:)

Are you a mod? Otherwise, I'm going to be polite about this right back: Tough.

People have a right to express themselves here... if you don't like it, go start your own message board and keep out anyone you disagree with. If you want to take part in the conversation here, however, you'll have to accept that there will be other people joining in.

I'm with Fanatic on this one, people complain too much about a 5th gate. Believe me Disney has plenty of money to spend. Besides they could use another park to spread out the crowds during the holidays. Its crazy during these times of the year. You can't even move an inch.
