Hi -- my 1st visit to the CR is in Sept. There's only 3 of us. Was wondering if the king room is any bigger - or smaller than the rest of the rooms? I have a reservation for Tower Bay View and don't want to ask for a king if it means a smaller room. Any advice would be appreciated:)

If I decide to ask for the king, should I do that now or wait till September? Thanks!!

not sure - we were once on the 12th floor looking at Bay Lake and next trip MK view - 10th floor and the room was smaller. Not alot. but definitely smaller.

Hi Deb0206 -- Checked my archives on CR room sizes, and all standard rooms run 422-436 SF which is not much difference.

I have stayed in a garden wing king, and it was much larger with a day bed. In my opinion, the Tower Room with a Bay Lake view is more desirable than the garden wing king view. But if you decide on a garden wing king room, I would suggest you request it now, as this type room is probably limited due to the CR's (I think) north wing :confused3 being under construction, and possible switch of guests to the CR from the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is also under construction. My sense of direction is horrible once I enter WDW, all I can think of is fun and more fun, and once I leave all I can think of is my next visit.

Have a great trip!!!

My family will be at CR 8/14-8/21.... tower room with MK view. Is there any specific floor and/or room that I should request?

The higher floors like 8, 9, 10 or 11 (expect 12 and 14 because those are Club Level floors) are good. However I personally don't see a difference becasue in my opinion the Magic Kingdom view seems the same to me, even if you got a low floor room.

I'm new to these boards, and haven't read through this thread yet (SO much to read!!), but I was wondering if anyone knows when the renovations are scheduled to be completed? We're going in Feb 2008, still haven't decided on a resort, but the Comtemporary was looking like our first choice, and I'm wondering if we should reconsider because of the construction or not!

Thanks!!

Robyn

All renovations to the rooms in the Tower and South Garden Wing have been 100% completed. As of right now they are moving onto the next phase of renovations, which do not effect any of the guests rooms and here is a schedule of what they are doing.

August 2007 - Newly renovated Fantasia Shop will re-open.

June 11, 2007 through November 2007 - The Lobby will undergo partitioned refurbishments to update the area's image and decor.

July 2007 through October 2007 - The resort's grounds will undergo partitioned refurbishments to install new landscaping and re-route existing guests paths.

July 30, 2007 through April 2008 - The Food & Fun Center will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as a new table service option, "The Wave". During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

April 2008 through August 14, 2008 -The Concourse Steak house will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as the new Counter Service location for the resort. During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

Hi Pixie Powered -- Just wanted to give you another opinion on your post. I definitely agree with CR Resort Fan 4 Life, a Magic Kingdom view is awesome no matter what floor you're assigned.

If you decide you want to be on a higher floor, at check in make the request , and if available, you will be accommodated.

Have a great trip!!!

My family stayed at CR the end of May. We were on the 9th floor room 4548 (it was at the end of the hallway). The view of MK from the balcony was spectacular. I think the view from any of the rooms would have a great view of the MK. When I booked the hotel I asked for a room with the MK view. When we checked in I reminded them of my request. The view was great. HTH.

I just joined the DIS boards! I have never been to Disney, but I am planning my family's first trip. We are interested in the Contemporary. Here are a few questions if someone would be kind enough to help.
1. Our children are 2 and 5. Is there a shallow area to the pool or a separate kiddie pool? Just want to be sure that the children will have something that is fun during our "breaks"
2. Do the buses to the other parks (AK, MGM) stop at other resorts along the way or is it direct?
3. Will the walkway to the MK be affected by the construction? The main reason we are choosing the Contemporary is due to the location (although I am finding there are many other perks)
Thanks so much for your help. This is better than a guide book.

Hello all! I am just wondering how much the prices increase each year especially after all of these nice renovations take place. I am considering going at the beginning of Dec 2008. For the same time in Dec 2007 our price with tickets and dining is about $3195. Does anyone know the percent increase the Contemporary increases each year? :confused3

1. There is a shallow area of the regular pool and I think there is also a kiddie pool, however I can't remember 100% if they still have it.

2. The buses to MGM, AK and DTD will also stop at the Polynesian and sometimes they may also stop at the Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge. However on the way back from any of those locations the Contemporary will always be the 1st stop.

3. The walkway is not effected at all by the construction at all. My family and I used it a lot when we were there last December and the construction did nit effect it at all.

The main pool is ALL pretty shallow. I believe the deepest part is just over 3 feet. The "quite" pool is a little deeper, about 5 feet if I remember correctly. I didn't see the Kiddy pool, (we swam in the "quite" pool and didn't venture around the main pool much) but if the main pool is just over 3 feet, the kiddy pool is probably closer to 2.

Two more questions!!

What is the weather typically like in February? I know it's hard to predict, but what's the usual temp/weather conditions?

And, are the pools heated? :)

Thanks again!

With Disney changing their reservations procedures for '08 (reportedly), all bets are pretty much off on what the increases will be.

To sum up: It looks like they'll no longer book by seasons (where one rate applies to each night of a season, and if your ressie starts in ONE season, it maintains the rate of that season even if you "cross over" at some point during your stay) but with a night by night rate (so your first night and your 3rd night could be completely different rates...or your weekends could cost you more than your weekedays, etc). Until they release the rates and a detailed explanation of their new policy....it's going to be pretty hard to guesstimate even close to the ballpark range.
