According to the current schedule, the Concourse Steak House will be open for my trip in September! :woohoo: After seeing it was not in the 2007 edition of Birbaum and knowing about the construction, I thought it was going to be closed. Looks like it's time to revisit my dinner plans again
I guess this is one example of the Birnbaum book being wrong. Maybe they had a different schedule before the one that was published on the internet, so the plans may have changed.

North garden wing is totally gone but the only time that we even noticed it was when we were on the monorail and could see over the construction fence. From the grounds, the fence is solid green and kind of just blends in. We didn't notice any construction noise or workmen around. If I hadn't read about the wing being torn down on here then I wouldn't have even realized it.

The fourth floor concourse doesn't currently have anything boarded up. BVG shop, Fantasia, sundry shop, arcade, Concourse steakhouse and Chef Mickey's were all open.

The pool was amazing too. I had read concerns on here about ducks taking over the pool and how unhygenic it was but I only saw a duck in the pool one evening but I never saw any feathers or droppings in the pool at all - ever.

The rooms in the south garden wing are great too. I found that there was enough room (I had read concerns on here about space) - drawer space and hangers - to unpack our clothes for one adult and 2 children. Even the new sinks weren't that bad and I just stored our bathroom supplies on the shelf under the sinks. The bed and pillows were really comfy and the day bed was very comfortable too according to my 8 year old son - he had lots of room in it and it would probably also fit someone around my height (5 ft 7 inches) quite comfortably.

Thanks for that great review.

We got our breakfast muffins and coffee every morning during our March stay. You can read about it in my trip report. The link is in my sig.

Just wondering if internet access is still free at the CR or are they now charging a daily fee? When I stayed there this past Dec., internet access was free.

Thanks!

I am also wondering the same question. I know they have a business center in the convention center with internet and if you stay on less then 15 minutes they won't charge you, however after having free internet in our room it's something you wish you can have all the time.

:cheer2: Subscribing! Trip in Dec.......hoping no construction issues:)

We reserved a tower room w/ MK view.....last visit we stayed at GF so know nothing about CR, DH assumed MK view tower was the best spot to be at CR, can anyone tell me if we should be requesting something different?

TIA:goodvibes

We had an MK Tower romm this last visit and it was great. DS4 konked out one night early but we just hung out, watched the Electrical Water pageant, cant see it real close but still can see it z(when it was at I think the Poly), and then we could see the fireworks from MK later. We just hung out on the balcony (bring bug repellent we did get bit) while the little guy slept and then we got to bed early and was up and running again the next day.

Have fun!

My family and I have had a MK view on the 5th floor which is the 1st of rooms in the Tower and as high as the 14th floor, which is last sets of rooms in the Tower. So in our opinion we did not see any difference between the MK view on a low floor and a high floor.

There is a 5th floor facing bay lake, but not the magic kingdom. MK views start on the 6th floor. The 5th floor is actually the monorail platform. I have had the 6th floor several times, and CR Resort Fan 4 Life is correct, the view is the same. Although once in a while, while in bed, you could gently feel the floor move with the monorail whizzing by. ;)

Actually you are wrong about their being no rooms facing the Magic Kingdom on the 5th floor, because they have them so I am not making that up. Besides I remember one night around 1:30 AM I looked down from our floor and two Monorails were parked for the night. So basically I am saying there are Magic Kingdom view rooms on the 5th floor, because I stayed in one with my family.

I certainly do not want to argue, however; Not sure if this link will work, but please count the floors. Anyone who ever has stayed on the 5th floor with bay lake view, can testify that you have to take the elevator down and then the monorail stairway up to 5 again for the monorail plateform. Hopefully this link will work and you can count it out. http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/cont41.jpg

I guess I was wrong that it was not the 5th floor when it was really the 6th floor. So guess you can say my mistake on my part.
