Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Does anyone know if they have bottled water in the WL club lounge? I thought I read that they didn't, but I saw a recent picture on a Facebook group and it appeared that they do.
Yes! I was there last February (coming back in May, missed it too much!) and they did have small, pint-sized Dasani bottles in the fridge. They also had a large, communal glass bottle of water by the coffee bar area, but it was definitely that good ol' Florida tap water. (Maybe filtered, but definitely swampy!) Mind you, this was shortly after the club reopened post-refurb, so if anything they've improved offerings. Happy club-going!

I have a split stay with Poly and YC (both CL) this August. I understand that both serve pastries at breakfast. Are the pastries pretty much the same across all the resorts or do they try to switch it up?
I have found many similar pastries from resort to resort . Also at each resort they do generally alternate at least every other day.

Dd loves the smaller bagels at poly/ less guilt! Those were out daily but I had danish or muffin different each day.

We had a great split-stay between AKL CL and GF SL! At the airport now headed home. I will have pictures and thoughts to post in the next few days. Highlights that stand out to me right now as I sit here and reflect are:

> AKL CL was a much better experience than I was thinking it would be! Can't wait to tell you guys all about it.

> GF SL took me a few days to warm up to. I think because RPC set the bar so high! My DH and both girls LOVED it! I, however, didn't totally feel the love but I'd book it again if RPC isn't in the cards. It's hard to beat the convenience of the SL location!!

Much more coming in the next few days!

Yay! I'm glad you had a great trip! I'm looking forward to hearing more/seeing pics. We've long been fans of AKL CL even though it gets some mixed reviews.

WL CL breakfast back from our February trip. Carb-loaded beause I had to drive back to Miami and go to work that same day... the one downside to long weekend trips!

Featured: sesame bagel (these are totally fluffy and bready, no dry crumbly supermarket bagels here!), croissant, cinna roll, bran muffs, and steel-cut oatmeal with pecans and maple syrup. OJ and Perrier, too. (I drank twice my weight in Perrier this trip.) Not featured: this tavern-style ham my parents loved, hard-boiled eggs, fruit and whatnot.

Are the waffles in GF SL CL?

Yes. I was there two weeks ago the first day they offered this (at least that's what the chef said). I'm glad @TJA has photo proof because I didn't have my phone on me! CL fail on my part.

It was described to me as a "test" and not an every morning thing. They were only out one out of my four days there. They set up a little chef station near the marina entrance and make them fresh right there. My kids were in heaven.

Separately, they also had a chef station set up one afternoon in the same place making a fruit / cream thing. They'd take a blow torch to the cream to toast/char it. It was good.

I pieced together through a few conversations that they were testing more chef-prepared items such as this at both RPC and SL.

Here's a pic of the berry/cream thing.

About to do a photo dump from the GF SL portion of my trip two weeks ago. Hope you don't mind!

Actually, I didn't really get too many good photos on this trip. For one, it's hard to take pictures in this lounge. The food service area is kinda small and I found I never had a good chance to take photos without anyone else around or without bothering other people. Also the lounge itself isn't particularly bright so my photos seem dark.

Here's a view of the lounge looking down from the third floor. This was during evening apps (or maybe desserts), you can see the wine/beer cart set up there behind the CM desk. This is manned (although not in this pic). Hard to see but there are little Dasani bottles on the CM desk. They are out pretty much all the time.

Ground shot of said alcohol bar. I never had any problem with this setup, always happy to provide a glass, plastic cup, whatever. I very rarely use the CL CMs for anything but I'm not sure I really liked this setup? If you do need to use them your business is sort of out in the open for everyone to see/hear.

Breakfast, as expected, was pretty much the same every day. I really missed just plain hard boiled eggs, they had these Deviled Egg things out every day. Wasn't really a fan.

They have more offerings, just impossible to get pics. Two varieties of yogurt (scoop yourself), cereals, oatmeal, various meats (turkey, ham, etc), salmon, etc. Pretty normal CL stuff.

Beverages....
IMG_6525.JPG

Coffee and Nespresso machine....to go cups were available which I always appreciate.

More coffee/Nespresso machine.

I wish Disney would just install a tap for filtered water instead of having CM's constantly having to fill these carafes.

More GF SL...here are afternoon snacks, which were pretty much the same every day. I'm not sure if the scones were out the whole time or just later in the afternoon (I think maybe just later in the afternoon?).

I may or may not have had several of these each day....

I posted this a few posts ago but one afternoon a chef was set up making these. Very good and a nice change of pace from the regular afternoon offerings.

Just returned from RPC for Easter weekend... it was AMAZING!

As background ... we were there last Easter (during the height of cost cutting phase) and thought we would never go back. We got a great deal last fall and returned ... it was much improved then, but it is awesome now.

The food offerings continue to get better and better -- they had a chef two of the three nights. They had the best beef bourguignon I have had in my life. Things that had been scaled back have returned/or tweaked to be even better -- the staff is noticeably friendlier (indifferent last year), they brought by chocolates to the room, the amenities were back, bottled water was available etc. etc.

What I found most impressive was, the manager was present and engaging with guests ... obviously a huge property but we saw him at least 3 times helping guests with questions (or their luggage!) during our short stay.

Given I was a bit critical/disappointed last year, wanted to update my opinion to a huge thumbs up!

More GF SL.... these were evening apps. Again, sort of hard to get any pics here because the lounge was usually pretty crowded.

Chicken skewers, pork belly, not sure what the small plate was.

Standard cheese display out every night.
2.JPG

Choices usually involved 1-2 hot/main entrees and a variety of small plates. Decent variety overall. Again, sorry I don't have better pics.

Sorry I couldn't really get the little food signs.

Pretty good stuff for the most part, although not as flavorful as it looks, for my pallet at least! The beef skewer, despite being under a heat lamp, was more room temp than hot. None of the "hot apps" were particularly hot for that matter, but that's pretty minor.

Overall, I thought the food was good, but not quite as good as what I had at WL in November and even my one night at BC last summer. In some ways I liked the new/improved Poly evening offerings a bit better than this (I know that's probably blasphemous to say) - they seemed fresher and more flavorful. BUT, don't get me wrong - we did enjoy the food.

And finally, GF SL desserts. I will say they put out A LOT of desserts. The variety is somewhat staggering. But some of them are somewhat basic Disney desserts that you see in other places. Nothing really to complain about though, plenty for your sweet tooth. :-)

Glad you had a great trip! Can't wait to see your pics and hear all about both stays :).

It's always nice seeing people's pics ::yes::.

I found the lounge to be this way as well. Not very roomy/spread out to be able to take pics without a lot of people around :rolleyes1.

Definitely agree the main desk right in the middle doesn't seem ideal.

I agree, not the best place for a CM desk :sad2:.

Hey, sorry I burried your post in all of my GF SL pics. I was at RPC last Feb (2016) when those cutbacks started so it's encouraging to read posts such as this. Thank you for posting with your review and glad you had a great trip! :thumbsup2
