Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

We just got back from a stay May 21-27. We were first given Martinique 2415 water view room of the lake but as soon as we walked in, it wreaked of smoke. We called the front desk and within 15 minutes were given a new room in Martinique 2527 also a water view of the lake. Both rooms had the murphy bed. After the first day, we realized that being in Bldg 25 it was closer to walk to Port Royal Bus Stop than Martinique. We always got off at Port Royal as well. We only had an issue of waiting longer than 10 minutes for a bus and that was our last day to Magic Kingdom (Thursday). We literally saw the MK bus drive away as we were walking to the bus stop and it was 25 minutes until another came along. We saw 5 AK, 3 HS and 2 DS buses during that time. We found the transportation reliable and efficient. This was the first time we drove down that we did not get in our car the entire trip. It was refreshing not having to worry about driving in the crazy construction mess going on. The only negative about Caribbean Beach busing is the pickup for both MK and Epcot were the furthest terminals so that was a little annoying especially after walking all day. If that was my only negative, I think that is pretty good. I wish we would have planned one more day to enjoy the resort more. We went to the quiet pool 3 times after coming home from the parks. The quiet pool stayed open well past the 11pm posted time. This was our first time ever at Disney where it did not rain at all. There were 5 of us that stayed in the room and we were not in the room enough to feel crowded. We had the dining plan and ate breakfast in Port Royal area.

My parents were in 2415 (we were next door in the connecting room) and their room smelled too!!

May I ask: did you use the online check in for your requests? if so, what were your requests? and were you booked water view?
TIA:flower1:

We were booked in a water view room as that was the only option available at the time. We did online check-in and I stated we would be there around noon. We received our room request at 12:30ish and we were still in route. I did request Martinique and Jamaica. I wanted a ground floor as well. I got both requests. I did not use an outside service and faxed my request to the fax number at the beginning of this string. I am pretty sure it was Pixie Dust that got both requests but I will take it....lol.

These came in the mail today

Just doing a one night stay at CBR before my convention starts but got a two day ticket. I was thinking I would get the gray tag as BB8 is sort of neutral but happy to get Donald. Blue is my favorite color.

I also see what people have been saying about the bands being more pliable/bendy/lightweight. Haven't been since last October and that band was the old kind that didn't quite fit my wrist but this one is a great fit.

Lucky YOU!!! That was some great pixie dust!
So during on line check in, you requested Martinique and Jamaica and then included ground floor in your fax? or were you able choose 3 things during on line check in?

Oh boy. Looking forward to details once you get home. Glad you're back home at CBR, but sorry your stay at Pop wasn't Magical.

Pop wasn't horrible but it wasn't for us. The room size was an issue. With us staying two weeks, I packed a lot of stuff. But even if I hadn't there still wouldn't have felt like enough room. The sink/bathroom area was super cramped...maybe half the size of the CBR area.

I included Martinique and Jamaica and then in my fax I specified the ground floor. We were brining my MIL and she get around fairly well but ground floor would be best if at all possible. I knew it was a shot in the dark but you have not if you ask not. So I tried.

This helps alot.
We are bringing my mom for a girls trip this time and even though she does not look or act 82 and she gets around GREAT, we know a ground floor room will be best for us and we are going to have her use a wheelchair just to get around the parks and resort. Once we get to a ride, we will park the wheelchair and she can stand in line with us but we know that she won't be able to do all the walking with us. We originally had a water view room booked, hoping for Martinique but to get FD, we could only get a standard room. We want to request Martinique 22 or Jamaica 44 or 45 and hope for a ground floor and since we are a party of 5, we will need the murphy bed so these will be my requests.
Here's a picture of the bunch of us going

I am really glad to see your post. We have stayed at CBR once back in 1990 and all the rest of our stays have been at a Value, (ASMo x 1, ASSp x 1 and POP x 9). We LOVE POP and I was so tempted to book 2 rooms at POP and then upgrade to full service dining but so excited now that we didn't. We may be a little cramped with 5 in our room but we don't figure that we will be in our rooms much + the money we saved staying at CBR (almost $900) is soooo worth it!

What a lovely group of ladies!

I would word your request as "ground floor and Martinique 22, Jamaica 44 or Jamaica 45".

And the pool and hot tubs are so much better!

Thank you so much ConnecticutNonna! I hope I do too! but as you can see none of us look like my sweet mama except the youngest. My mama is tiny (so is my grandaughter-the little one in the picture) and the rest of us are tall and/or fluffy:goodvibes

I really tried to fall in love with pop but just couldn't. Even with a party of five, I think that you will okay. The bathroom size and the beds were a real issue for us.
