Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Since a King Bed category can be in any village except Trinidad South, I would request either Martinique or Trinidad North to be closer to Old Port Royale/Centertown (food court, bar, main pool, gift shop).
I respectfully (very respectfully) disagree...
Only because I think those areas are noisier and more congested. Aruba 51, 52 and Jamaica 44 and 45 are lovely and quiet. Not sure why, but it's so much more peaceful in those villages. IMHO of course.

Some of you might remember me...but I am down to 32 days until my quick "surprise / proposal" trip for my girlfriend. She has no idea about the upcoming vacation. We are heading down Thursday - Sunday and will be staying 2 nights at CBR. I am finalizing reservations and plans, and I am now down to room requests. I am going to send a fax 5 days prior, but I am looking for help on requests. I don't necessarily need specific room numbers, but I am trying to think about what would be best for my girlfriend. Our room type is "king bed". Any help on recommendations on what to request? Thanks!
IMHO I would request Aruba 51 or 52 or Jamaica 45 or 44 with a water view. These villages are quieter (read more romantic) and are close to the bridge to OPR.
I think I said this before, but it bears repeating...
CONGRATULATIONS!!!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Just booked our 2nd trip at CBR for January 2017! Our first trip was in Sept. 2014 for our honeymoon and I fell in love with Disney World and CBR. DH was not a fan of the heat though so we're definitely hoping for cooler weather this time around. Would love to hear others experiences on this!

:jumping1:

I booked a King with the hopes of being able to request being closer to OPR. Am I correct in assuming there are more Water view rooms than King rooms in a building? Would I have better chances with a Water view instead? We would be happy no matter where we are eventually placed (I mean we're at Disney!) but I'd like to up the odds for some pixie dust. Thanks!

Well...to guarantee being close to OPR you would need to book Preferred. Water View or King, also bookable categories, could be in any of the villages.

We considered Preferred but didn't want to spend the extra 300 for it. We decided to take a chance with the King and be happy no matter where we get assigned. Simply wanted to know what the odds were for King vs. Water view. :teeth:

Gotcha. It's not always that much more (I think on my pre-cruise night there is no more than a $50 difference between King, Water View, and Preferred).
Given that, probably water view. Every building in the preferred sections lights up when I put "water view" in the Touring Plans room finder while only 3 of the preferred buildings do when I put in King.

Thank you so much! I have gone ahead and switched to Water view. Fingers crossed we get a nice location. ;)

That Room Finder tool is terribly incorrect. There are 16 king rooms in every building except Trinidad South where the Pirate Themed rooms are. Most of the buildings in Martinique and Trinidad North have twice as many kings as Water View.

Just returned from our short trip to the World. We were in Aruba 54 second floor, room 5457. It is a king room (we paid for that category) and although technically maybe not a corner room - it was at the end of a hall so there was no one on the one side of us and only one window. We enjoyed staying there but my husband said that he would choose a smaller resort, just too big of a resort for him.

We only had one issue with the buses. We waited over 40 minutes for a bus to Disney Springs one evening. We got to the bus stop at 5:45 and by 6:25 a bus still had not arrived. We decided to forgo our visit to Disney Springs and instead went to OPR to have some dinner. Of course as we were walking away we saw the bus pull up but it was very, very crowded. We could have driven to Disney Springs since we had our car but decided to hang out at the resort.

I do agree with other posters that we never thought of the resort as crowded. There were hardly any cars in the parking lot by Aruba building 54 and not much in other parts of the resort parking lots that we could see either. Over all a fun stay. We will be headed back in January but staying at the Wilderness Lodge next time.

Thanks so much for everyone's input on this resort - it does help in planning!

We are going to CB for the first time in January 2017. We have 3 babies under 2 years old, party of 12! What village would be best for us? We want to have easy access to buses, hopefully a bus that picks up first, and near food options. We won't be swimming this time of year and don't want to have a long walk anywhere since it'll be cold.

Also - we have 5 adults in each room... will we automatically get rooms with a Murphy bed to accommodate the 5th adult? Or should I request one?

To be close to the Food Court I suggest any of the following:

Martinique 21, 22, 23
Aruba 51
Jamaica 45

Every Village has its own bus stop so you will always be close to one no matter where your room is. The bus stop order will be different depending on which entrance the driver decides to use.

With 5 adults in the room you will be assigned a room with a Murphy Bed. No need to request that.

To steal PPs question with a follow up of my own - what if you have 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 6, 4, and 2)? Will we automatically get a Murphy bed or will I need to request one?

I was originally looking at POR since we could guarantee a Murphy with a preferred room, but CBR would be a fair amount cheaper and we absolutely loved the resort when we were there last year.

You would have to request one. Because one of your kids is under 3 yrs. old you are considered a party of 4.

CBR is our favorite Moderate so I understand.

Thank you for the information! Might have to switch back to King then.

Can we still get bagels at OPR for a snack credit? It was a great breakfast option on our last trip.

I so agree!! I've looked a couple of times at POR because it *would* make more sense for my pre-cruise stay since I'm planning to spend the day at Disney Springs, but I just can't do it. The Bayou rooms just look junky and the Mansions rooms just look stuffy. (And the Mardi-Gras theme at FQ just doesn't do it for me AT ALL.)

CBR it is for me! (Luckily I don't mind bus rides.)

Is there a parking lot near the food court/gift shop area? By looks of the map, I would say there is?
