We recently returned from CBR. Thanks to this board for all the helpful info.

We stayed in a refurbished room in Trinidad North. I had requested a murphy bed in Martinique. We did not get it at check in, but my son looked so downcast about having to share a bed with a sibling, the wonderful cast member made a call and we did get the bed, albeit in Trinidad North. It was terrific.

I wanted to post my observation that if I stay here again, I would not pay for a preferred room. I ran the resort, so I know how large it is (including through Trinidad South). I think that most places are a relatively quick walk to Port Royale, other than Trinidad South, which I thought was too far for access to the main pool, etc. According to my rough estimates using my garmin while running, the farthest points from Port Royale were a little less than half a mile, which is very walkable to me. Because of the many bus stops, it's not like you are trekking through the whole resort when your feet are tired after park touring. I realize people differ about this sort of thing, but I specifically paid for a preferred, and I wish I hadn't. I know this is a source of interest for new folks, so I pass this one for its limited worth.

I loved this resort and would definitely stay here again. Busses were terrific, housekeeping terrific, centrally located to all parks; I just can't say enough about it. I usually stay deluxe with my family trips, but this was such a nice resort.

Am I understanding right, Murphy beds aren't available in all double queen rooms?

Any idea what percent include Murphy beds?

We are planning a trip to Universal this time around. I plan on using taxi service to transfer us after our CBR stay. Do they have taxis waiting outside the hotel or do I need to call ahead to arrange for one? Trying to plan the amount of time needed to check out / wait for taxi and travel to Universal.
Thanks!
Nancy

Not sure if any cabs are out front; we always call ahead. You can even have them come to the parking lot by your building so that you don't have to trek your luggage to the lobby!

No, they aren't in all of the double queen rooms. I'm not sure if a percentage has been made available or if anyone has guestimated, but I haven't heard.

This is lovely to hear, as we have been used to deluxe but as we age are having a hard time justifying the cost-especially since 2 mods are able to now fit all 5 of us in a room. FWIW our entire ticket/hotel package for our August trip is LESS than the cost of a discounted deluxe RO without tickets for us.

I will say the room is smaller. We were four. It wasn't too tight for us, but it might be tighter than you like with 5. I would also suggest taking some space saving devices for luggage and whatnot. With the murphy bed out, there wasn't a lot of storage space in the room because you lose drawers with that set up. It was fine for the four of us, but if you are used to deluxe, the room is smaller. The bathroom situation did not overexcite me because the doors created a separate space that the alcoves at the deluxes do.

I did love this resort, but the rooms are smaller, so be prepared for that. It was a pretty resort, though. I really enjoyed the grounds. I also thought overall travel time was better here than at deluxes. Sure, it took us longer to get to MK than the other three resorts, but at a deluxe, it's always a long ride for at least two parks. We didn't have that here. On our "worst" day, it took us 25 minutes to get to the MK, and that included waiting at the bus stop. It was a quick ride to HS and Epcot, and AK wasn't bad either. I also walked up to a line at park close that was clearly three busses of people ahead of me. Unlike my experience at deluxe resorts, three busses showed up in a space of about 5 minutes, yes, 5 minutes. It might have been a function of the number of scooters and wheelchairs in line ahead of us, but I was impressed.

Also, I asked for extra towels the first day, and I got them every other day of my stay, without asking. That has never happened at a deluxe, where I have had to call every day. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Hi everyone - wondering if I could ask for some help please?
I am just about to ring to make a room request - my daughter is 2 and still sleeps in what we would call a cot here in the UK. We have stayed at Old Key West before and I remember there being a folding type cot in the wardrobe. Is there one at Caribbean beach or do I request it? Is it called a cot or a crib over there!!!?? Can I request a proper stand alone one? Could you post the contact number again please? Many thanks xxx
While I haven't stayed there yet, I did request a crib. You can say crib or pack and play. They will know what you mean, and it should be there. I have had to call twice (for various reasons), and both times I double checked that it said crib. The CMs said it does and not to worry! They also seemed to indicate that it should already be set up and ready to go. Even if it isn't, they are a quick set up. I'm sure you won't have any trouble!

I'm sure I missed it here somewhere.... but wondering about the bus stop order?? Does anyone have the direction and order of which stop first, second, etc.? Just curious so if my room ends up between stops which would be best? Don't want to find out I rode all the way around the resort when I could have gotten off a different stop! haha Thanks!!

I don't know the order off hand but I do know I read it last night somewhere in the first two or three pages of this thread.

There are 2 different routes. They are listed in post #11 :)

55 days to check in! There are 5 of us and I know it will be tight with all of us, but we plan to spend most time at parks or pool anyway...the kids will just have to suck it up LOL (we have always stayed offsite in at least a 2 bedroom condo).

Loving the "just back" quick thoughts/reports!!

Happy 10th Birthday to your daughter. I would call CBR directly and let them know of the special occasion and your daughter's wishes. Can't hurt. It is more personal when you actually call CBR. If you get a caring agent, then you have a pretty good chance of getting your request if available.

Great advice to have them call. Keep in mind that you aren't really calling the resort directly though. Even if they say that you are calling the CBR, it's really the Disney Travel call center.

Thanks so much for the review! I totally agree with you about the walking distances. I know to some that a preferred room is a must but, for my family, the walks aren't long enough to justify the extra cost.

I'm not sure of the percentage but can report that the refurb included queen beds with some rooms having the fifth pull down bed.

It all depends on which entrance the buses use. If they use the side entrance, the first stop will be Jamaica, followed by Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, Old Port Royale, Trinidad North and Trinidad South. If they use the front entrance, the first stop will be Martinique, followed by Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba and then Barbados.

We check in on June 9th. We have 5 and then my parents and brother are also staying at CBR. We all paid for standard rooms. I'm curious, which section should we request? I've heard good things about Jamaica and Aruba. I would like a short walk to busses. Also, how and when do I request that we be in the same area as my parents? TIA!

Beach Bum Roll Call updated this a.m.

I have some pictures of the items available in the store including milk, bottled water, chips, sundries, etc. that I will be posting soon. I'll let ya'll know when the posts have been updated.

We were in Jamaica 43 this past trip and the walk to both Old Port Royale and to the Jamaica bus stop were short walks.

I would suggest that you contact Disney Travel and have them "link" the two reservations and request that you be placed near each other in the resort. Keep in mind that this is just a request but they will do what they can to honor your request. Having said all of that, I have done this many times and, each time, our rooms (were were three separate travel parties) were all in the same building and right next to one another.
