Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

We've booked for 2 weeks next year with free dining. I need some advice on room requests. How do I go about room requests? We booked through a third party so I don't know whether that affects anything?

Also, would anyone have a suggestion on where to request? We have just booked a standard room, so we are unsure of where actually counts as an option, as most places seem to be garden or water view, so I think we are short on choices. We reckon that there is no point asking for any areas that fall under anything other than standard we won't get them, as we are staying for 2 weeks, it's peak time, and we aren't the kind of people that get offered upgrades.

Last time we had an amazing location within 30 seconds of the actual boardwalk, about three doors down from the lounge (I forget the room number even though I looked it up last night!), with a king instead of two queens. We overlooked the entrance, or at least would have if we didn't have the roof of the walkway blocking our view of everything except people's feet and a small slice of sky. Are there any standard rooms that are better than this? If somebody could suggest a king room, with similar location and a balcony where there isn't an obstruction a foot away it would be really appreciated.

Two weeks in one resort is a LONG time. We spent 10 days in GF RPC last year and DH (who has staunchly been against split stays) now insists on split stays if it's over 5 nights. That said, I'll post the Touring Plans room finder below this! I find it extremely helpful.

Looking for input/opinions/sell me on Boardwalk
I was looking around at availability for our trip here in a couple of weeks.
We are currently booked for 8 nights Standard Room at Poly (we have never stayed at Poly)
I just noticed that I can stay Club Level at Boardwalk for pretty much the same costs we have a Standard room at Poly.
We've never stayed at Boardwalk. We have stayed at Yacht Club and we do like the area
Unsure about the "Scary Clown Pool", and we do plan to spend time at the pool/breaks in the Resort every day
We do love Club Level stays. We got a lot of use out of the AKL Club level on our trip last summer so I'm pretty sure we'd use it at Boardwalk too
Our park time is split pretty evenly among all parks. So location is probably a wash.
We use Disney transportation and have no stroller
Would you stay at Poly or give Boardwalk a chance?

I haven't stayed at BWI but we arrive in 9 days! All my research indicates we will love it. There is a quiet pool closer to CL that we intend to use. The Luna pool (clown one) is across on DVC side. So unless you are interested in the kids activities the quiet pool is a great option.

There is refurbishment at BWV but not to the extent of the Poly and you shouldn't notice it at the Inn. Here is the link to Touring Plans BWI for room locations. You can also use it for Poly to see if your room category is near the construction! Sorry I can't give first hand info yet.

Hi - We stayed at the BWI for the first time last year. My family and I are going again in November 2015. We have a reservation for breakfast at Cape May. Can we walk to the Beach Club - or do we have to take the ferry?

Yes you can walk. Just make a right when exiting onto the boardwalk and follow the path across the bridge.

Just a small review: We stayed at the BWV in a standard dedicated room 3085. The room was not refurbished and it definitely needed it. It just felt dated and there was obvious wear and tear (the leg of the table was off center and you could see the marks for where is should be, for example) throughout the room. We didn't ask for anything different because we were on the same floor and close to my parents & sister who were sharing a 2 bedroom villa (3113.)

We loved the location of the Boardwalk Resort. You just can't beat it, IMO. Everything, other than the room was amazing (and even it wasn't awful.) The food choices were great as was the atmosphere. The CM's were all super friendly. We would love to return when the refurb is complete for another stay. :)

Thanks for your review.

I hope you get to go back and enjoy a refurbished room. From the pics I've seen they really look pretty.

The funny thing is that I said Teppan Edo, but I totally was thinking of Tokyo Dining. :) we've never even tried Teppan Edo!! :rotfl2:

That's hilarious and I'm so glad we actually agree on TD - phew.

I remember that they had Samuel Adams and Bud Light and maybe a few others. I haven't been able to figure out how to post pictures from my tablet but will definitely do that when I get home next weekend. The CL CM's haablall been fantastic.

On an iOS device (iPhone/iPad), and I assume other Windows based tablets/phones, just click the UPLOAD A FILE button at the bottom/middle of your post box. This will allow you to choose photos from your PHOTO LIBRARY. On a Mac desktop, you can just drag your photo from your desktop right into your post - it's so much easier now and no uploading to photo-sharing sites is necessary anymore!

You're not missing very much..

TE is no better than your reg. hibachi type joint at home. ( At least near us ) food was about the same, and the show/ part of it , the same too.

TD on the other hand, we thoroughly enjoyed....My kids at the time were only 10 and they want to go back in the worst way...But with our large groups that we tour with it's always tough to make everyone happy. SO we'll wait tll it's just us 4.

You got that right and Benihana's (are those still around?) cost less. The service and food is always consistently excellent at TD and we usually go at least twice each trip.

I have never mastered posting directly from a device to the boards. Since they were changed it might be possible. I always upload to photobucket (or similar site) then copy it back to the board here. The only issue I have is not being able to resize it with the tablet. Someone with more tech knowledge will hopefully pop in and explain it to us both!

Again thanks for the updates and enjoy your stay. I'll look forward to your thoughts after you return home!

12 days until I glue myself to the Boardwalk Bakery display case! :hourglass

Did you see the link to BWB breakfast photos? I bet you already saw those:)

No more uploading needed - it's so easy now. See my comments above to CWdreamer.

I am excited to read both of your reviews...and see pics!! I'm definitely NOT an expert (my 11 yr old is more tech savvy than I) but I do know that posting photos is MUCH easier now. When you are writing a comment, there is a button to "upload a file" and you can post a photo directly from your device instead of having to use photobucket, etc. I posted some from my iPad once that were too large so I just cropped the photo, saved the image, and it let me post. I didn't know this would work, but it did for me. I've never had a problem with photo size when posting from my phone. I hope this helps because I want to see those pics:) !!! BTW, speaking of Boardwalk Bakery, I was looking at pics online and could have sworn I saw the pecan sticky buns they used to serve at GF CL. I would love to know if they have those. It may be wishful thinking, but GF had to get them from somewhere, right??

That's how you do it:thumbsup2

I just booked our Club Level room here for October 2 to 4. It's just my son and I this trip celebrating his 10th birthday on October 10th. We'll be at All Star Music with friends from September 28th to October 2nd. So excited to be Club level first time and first time at BWI and first time in the Epcot area. So many firsts!
Congratulations on all those great firsts! I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin.

Welcome to the thread! psac is spot on and actually the BWI SV rooms can be any view except a direct BWV, so it's actually a booking with many possibilities:)

I agree with Liz that you would probably prefer the Quiet pool which the CL lounge balcony overlooks:

Thank you for posting your review and it's too bad you didn't get a rehabbed villa - they're long overdue. Did your parents and DD have a rehabbed villa?

@WDWKOOK - no, their rooms were not refurbished either.

Does anyone know the best number to call if we left something in a room? My Mom thinks she may have left her reading glasses there. Thank you!

Thanks for all the replies regarding the room choices. I didn't realise the courtyard views and Epcot views were standard rooms. Other resorts would make you pay for that! The BWI courtyard area is really nice.

I DID see that! DH was drooling but I'm not a fan of cones (or bread for that matter). I would dump the stuff out and give the cone to DH! Did you see the Pop Tart Egg Cheese and Bacon sandwich at Pop Century? I'm giving it a pass! :)

DH is in charge of day time and I've planned out our evenings. DH arrival day plan: 1. Boardwalk Bakery 2. Check in 3. Boardwalk Bakery 4. Go to Room 5. Check out CL offerings 6. Boardwalk Bakery. I'm seeing a daytime theme emerging here!

I'm sorting through what I want to take and actually packing some stuff. The critters have lost interest in the suit cases for now!

Happy Planning everyone!

Too funny...I like the way he Thinks...LoL

Agh...BOG??? I'm Guessin..

It was Cinderella's Royal Table. DH wanted to try the French Toast (his was banana bread that was battered and fried which isn't as described. Think WCC at WL French toast!). I recommend the "Healthy Choice" if you're eating there!

We haven't done a BoG breakfast but I'm told it is decent. I prefer lunch there. The salads and sandwiches are really good! I recommend the quinoa salad or ham and cheese sandwich.
