Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I just noticed a "parking advisory" on the official BWI webpage. Does anyone know what is going on there? It didn't say BWI was under construction just that we might have to use valet parking.

Since we always drive down I thought I'd ask. Thanks for any help and my apologies if this was asked/answered further back. I haven't made it all the way through yet!

There seem to be SO many more food options in the Boardwalk area including EPCOT over MK area resorts! The bakery looks downright dangerous!

27 days can counting down....:hourglass

PS Did I mention I'm a picture nut? New resort = tons of new pics. I'll try to post some up during our midday heat siesta downtimes assuming wifi cooperation!

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]We checked into our 1 bedroom villa last Sunday and checked out yesterday (we are now at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for a week, our first time off site, Eeeeek!). We loved our villa, we had an amazing view, housekeeping was amazing, in fact every cast member at The Boardwalk Inn and Villas was amazing. We will definitely be back. We only wish there were a few more food options but we loved walking to Epcot in the evening for dinner.

I have read reports from others that they had no issues with finding a spot to park. I'm not sure what they are doing. Would love to find out though.

We will be there the same time as you. 7/26-7/30
This will be our 5th stay at BW and we just love it there.

I hope that is true! We would pay for the valet if necessary though.
I'll be the crazy lady with Tink shirts on! :tinker:If we run into each other we'll have drinks and you can fill us in on the BWI scoop!

Hoping the heat isn't too bad but it will be July!

Sounds good. I'll have to keep an eye out for those Tink shirts.

Stayed at BWI for the first time from 6/16-6/26. It is now our all-time favorite resort. Beautiful grounds, fantastic CMs and just wonderful all the way around. We had room 2296, my in-laws had 2298 and my parents had 2304. It was so nice to hop over to Big River Grill and Brew Works for dinner and a beer when it rained so hard, you couldn't even see Yacht Club anymore. BellVue Lounge was awesome. Had some fantastic drinks at Leaping Horse Libations.

All three rooms had a view of the courtyard and were very close to the lobby, the quiet pool and vending machines and ice machines. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Let me know if you have any questions :)

We just got back from an AMAZING first stay at BWI. The resort was overbooked so we were magically upgraded to the Sonora Suite! We originally had a deluxe CL room booked and when we went past the desk by the door to CL the gentleman mentioned something about a surprise in the room. I thought maybe he didn't know that I already knew the room had a view of the boardwalk or something, but when the bellhop stopped at the door to the suite I literally screamed and started jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas. There were quite a few mousekeepers in the hallway and they all came over to congratulate us and told us to enjoy the suite and let them know if they could get us anything. They were all so sweet! I could not stop crying and hugging them all lol. It was the most magical thing that's ever happened to us on a Disney vacation! The suite itself is gorgeous. The CL staff were all so kind and accommodating during our stay. My parents (who were not staying at the resort) stayed with our kids one evening so my husband and I could go out on a date and they were invited to go the lounge with our kids and told to eat and drink anything they wanted. It only took us four minutes (we timed it) to get from our room to the lobby, and another minute to the bus stop and another two minutes to the pool. I was really worried about all the long hallways people talk about, but they are really not long at all, especially when you consider we were traveling with four kids and strollers and my Dad, who has hip problems and doesn't walk very fast. MBs worked flawlessly to get in the room. My only room request was an early check-in, and MBs worked for parking at MK at 7:30am and our dining credits were available at 12 for lunch. Overall BWI is just beautiful. No issues with self parking and there were plenty of spots available. The bus service was fantastic, although we only went to DTD once and MK twice, but both times a cast member was at the bus stop with an iPad and was able to tell us almost exactly when the next bus would be arriving. We can't wait to go back!

Thank you so much for the review of your stay! Seeing so many positive experiences makes me think we made the right decision.

Fantastic sprinkling of Pixie Dust! Congratulations on the wonderful stay. I'm looking forward to our stay next month! What were your impressions of the lounge and food? Is the lounge as large as it looks?

I'm glad the CM staff is great. We have been lucky enough to have awesome CMs during all our stays. I'm guessing if I kept calling back I would eventually be able to get a monorail resort, but we decided to try something new! I think BWI is the perfect choice for that.

Thanks again to everyone sharing their experiences!

Wow!!! What a magical trip! I couldn't stop smiling when I read your post so I can imagine your excitement.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the BWI. It's my favorite.

The lounge is a nice size. The CMs there IMO are the best. We're not staying club this trip and I will miss the smiles and hellos when coming and going.

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks so much for confirming that Mexi! We've decided not to make dining plans for arrival day and make them based on how we like the club food. Still having lively discussions about Artist Point (DH choice) Sunday for our anniversary vs the MULTITUDE of options available near BWI and EPCOT but I'll probably throw the towel in at that one.

Does CL have a special juice like GF, Poly or AKL? A bit of coconut rum in the AKL jungle juice and I was a happy camper!

Thanks again for the info!

No special juice the last time we were club level. I have been reading about other lounges having special welcome drinks but I don't think BWI is one of them.

Artists Point sounds nice for an anniversary celebration but you are so right about having many choices in the Epcot area itself. Happy planning.

Happy Anniversary too!

The only other CL lounge I have to compare it to is BC (pre-refurb) and BWI felt larger. The high ceilings probably make it feel a little larger than it actually is, but it's still a nice size. We never had a problem getting a table. The food was great but the two things that stood out most to me were the little tea sandwiches they had in the afternoon and all the toppings for the bagels for breakfast. Those tea sammies were perfection. I've had them so often where the bread is slightly stale or too soggy, but these were perfect! The staff was really on top of keeping everything fully stocked and refilling things way before they were even close to empty. The oatmeal raisin cookies and make-your-own trail mix were my kid's favorites. I hope you love BWI! :-)

Now I know I'm going to miss club this year. Tea sandwiches in the afternoon is new. That sounds yummy.

I have seen mention of an Afternoon Tea at BWI but no details I was beginning to assume it was something they had stopped doing. I LOVE afternoon Tea! AKL had scones (minus the Devonshire cream) and GF has the scones and tarts too. Tea sandwiches YUM! I really can't wait now.

I will try to take lots of pictures while I'm there and share!

We have finally reached a compromise on The Dinner. Last July Artist Point had Copper River Salmon on the menu. If it is still there this year we, eat there (or if they have the buffalo steak). If not, we will venture to a new place!

Thanks again for all the info. You guys are great!

Last year at GF SL I was addicted to the scones with Devonshire.:cloud9: And the juice they put out every afternoon was incredible. I make it at home now and the first time my kids tried it they were saying " It's the juice fom the lounge". Makes me so happy.

TinkerbelleLiz: We were there 6/13-6/23 and I was really nervous from the time I saw that advisory until we checked in. I mentioned in an earlier post that we found a spot right away. We arrived around 11am and the self parking had a lot of cars, but we didn't drive around looking much since we literally found the first spot right next to valet lot across from the tennis courts. There's one whole aisle along that side that's self parking. The main self parking lot was farther back I believe, so we felt lucky to be so close. We had plans to use our car for grocery trips and MK, but never did. Too afraid to move the car, just in case it got worse, lol. If you have any trouble, go down that row. It was a nice place to park since twice we cut thru the tennis courts on the way back from DHS to get stuff out of the car!

Thanks for the heads up on the perfect parking spot, Hammie! Mexi and I will be fighting over it. :drive:

I told DH about the tea sandwiches and we're putting the GF tea on hold til we try them. I think I saw boiled eggs in one picture. Those would be great at breakfast and maybe keep me from plastering myself on the display window of the bakery! I can usually offset the extra food with all the walking but being that close to the bakery will present a challenge!

We requested a Boardwalk view and I know those are limited. Upside is the garden views will be really quiet!

Thank you all again for sharing your experiences! Between you all and the information Kook has put together, I think we chose the perfect spot!

25 days! :hourglass

Please share that recipe! I ment to get it last year and forgot. It's very similar to AKL jungle juice but I think one is guava and one is passion fruit. I would love to fix "juice from the lounge!"
