Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Hi! We're staying at BWV for the first time this February and were planning on grabbing breakfast at the bakery 1 or 2 mornings. I've been checking the menu on MDE and it looks like all the hot offerings are gone- only muffins, etc now. Has anyone eaten here recently and had or remember seeing any egg dishes? I know the menus on MDE can sometimes be glitchy so wanted to check. Thanks so much! :D
We were there for Christmas. I don't remember any egg offerings, just baked items.

I'm curious about this too. It says at the beginning of thread " Another room rehab is scheduled through May 2016. It is thought that this rehab will be on the 4th floor which is re-designating all of its rooms to Club Level rooms. Ten rooms have already been re-designated."

Does anyone know if this is happening now? I'm worried it will be going on in August (since this get behind so often)
Yes! This is what I was referencing when I asked the original question. We are looking to stay at BWI in early/mid May 2016 and there is literally nothing open most of the days in may. I found a couple days where standard rooms only were available which makes me think they are working on the club level floor. Hmmmm.

Out of curiosity, where was your room located without the balcony and do you remember seeing others?

We were in Room 5275. We were over Flying Fish, almost at the corner. Great room location, nice view but no balcony, our DD next door had the balcony. Next time I am taking their room!

I am trying to make room reservations for June for 1 night and very few rooms and no standard rooms. That explains why. Might have to switch to YC for the one night.

Hi! I am leaning towards booking this hotel for a trip in late May. Compared to the Poly (where we stayed last time)-and in the eyes of a 5 year old- Would you rather stay here or at WL? Keep in mind that said 5 year old LOVES a good water slide...so the pool are has to be same or better than the lava pool with an equal or better slide.lol

Hello! Looking forward to a stay at BWI this late spring! I've stayed at the villas but never the Inn side. We'll be traveling with three kids--5, 8, and 13 at the time of travel. I was looking at room pictures and noticed the sofa. Does it become a sofa bed? I'm not sure where the 5th person is supposed to sleep.

Well, back to catching up on this thread...

I'll be traveling with a 5 year old as well. We were previously scheduled to stay at the WL, but seeing the photos of the recent construction made me switch and not look back. We'll do WL again in a few years. I think your DS will enjoy BW. It's a fun resort. The clown pool has a crazy good slide.

ETA: Here's the thread I started that scared me away from WL

Yes the sofa pulls out to become a bed. My sister-in-law used it on our last visit and thought it was very comfortable.

In this family's opinion BWI has THE best slide on property by far!

Hi,
We will be arriving in April. Do the Villas all have balcony's? Staying in a studio.

Hello all, been back from our stay at the BWV for about a week and I finally have more time to comment. First off...........I'm so sad to see our name of the "LIST". It was there so long.......and now its gone

We visited during Marathon weekend. It was not as crowded as I expected...........there were people but I guess I expected more. We had a studio on the 4th floor (4059). Now I was signed up for a courtyard or pool view. For most of the time I was there I thought we had a Boardwalk view..........you could easily see Spaceship Earth, and some fireworks from our balcony. In fact when they ran the 10K we could hear and watch runners on the Boardwalk. For us it was unexpected and glorious.

The studio itself was small but bigger than the standard room we had at WL. There was a Queen bed along with a sofa. The kitchenette was a microwave and a sink...........and a FULL SIZE Coffee maker! This sealed it for my wife and I...........full size made our morning so much better! The staff also hooked us up with Coffee for our entire stay at no additional charge..........NICE! :P The closet was standard and had a nice safe with iron/board and vacuum. The bathroom was small but very serviceable........worked well for our 5 day/4 night visit. The only issue I had with the room was the chest of drawers. It was small.........only 4 drawers for 2 people o_O. If you stay for a week or more.............not enough space.

We did have an opportunity to use the Luna Pool............and the slide! What a great area! Plenty of lounge chairs and no one was really swimming but a few kids. I would imagine its much more crowded in the summer :-) We did try the slide.............it was great. The water in the slide was actually HOT.......so it felt great. The end is still a bit creepy but its a must do if possible when you stay here.

Finally, the staff! What can I say...........OUTSTANDING. Not one issue........only assistance and smiles.........from all.

WE"RE COMING BACK HERE! Not exactly sure when............but we love this resort! We had a fabulous dinner at the Flying Fish........great..........unreal. We weren't impressed with the Big River Grill bar..........beer choice were small...........didn't really care for them.

Agree with everything you posted except for the BRG beers. :drinking1 We had 4059 last spring but it had not yet been refurbished. Last fall we had a room closer to the elevators on the lobby level (2055 - maybe? and refurbished) and loved it as well--Village Green view is our favorite. We also agree with the lack of storage in the room. We were there for 8 nights and it was a pretty tight fit for two people in those four small drawers. The closet isn't large enough to since it also houses the vacuum, etc. All that said, looking forward to our return in the fall for F&W. Glad you enjoyed your stay! :thumbsup2

Maybe we hit BRG at a bad time. The menu had beers on it that weren't available either. What was left was a bit heavier than I like. We'll give it a try again some day :)

Refurb apparently didn't mean adding storage....................did ito_O

Clearly not--I can't imagine having four in a room with that little storage--then again, I dislike living out of a suitcase. :rolleyes1

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the standard and boardwalk view club level rooms ?.....besides the view of course. Are rooms the same size and set up?

Having one of "those days" where my trip just seems way too far away (both trips, but especially my December visit to the Boardwalk!) so I'm catching up on the current happenings. Living vicariously through these updates :)

We tried WL for the first time, when my dds were 6 & 8, and the Boardwalk the first time the following year. They both preferred Boardwalk to Wilderness Lodge. I don't remember having Wilderness Lodge having a water slide at the pool. The clown mouth water slide at Luna pool is one of the fastest/ best at the WDW resorts. Is your 5 year old afraid of clowns?

I don't know if it was all the trees at the WL or just a bad season, but both DW and one dd had the allergy thing the week we stayed at WL (runny nose, etc). I liked the wide beach, Bay Lake view, theming of resort, and riding the boat over the water bridge to get to the MK. The Boardwalk has a nightime entertainment (jugglers, magicians) great pool slide, boardwalk, green space, Crescent Lake view, and boats as well.

What does your child like more? Boardwalk excitement or log cabin/ wood retreat? Both are great resorts.

Just stayed at BWV and it was great. You have the games and entertainers in the evening too. The Luna pool area is great...........and that slide :P I like the access from the BW, you have Epcot (walk), HS(boat or walk), and you can stretch it out to access to MK via the monorail. As adults we love all the eating choices from the BW too!

WL is great too (we consider it our home resort). Love the theming and the access to MK via boat (bus for every other park). My concern is the impact of construction at WL. Not sure how much they'll be in May.......but its worth checking in too. Rooms are a bit smaller in WL but you have the bunk beds :-)

I guess it comes down to what park you want to be close to...........and the construction. Either way you'll love the either resort :D

I don't believe that it's scheduled through August. These are the current permits/NoCs:

Love the Boardwalk. Photo taken a couple of years ago.

Lovely!

I would not book WL until all of the construction is completed, which may run through April 2017. I have a thread will all the construction details posted HERE and there are also new photos posted on the WL thread linked in my signature.

Bumping your question to the experts...

Thank you for posting about your stay and for posting the link to your photos. I hope you get to book another trip to WDW soon.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the standard and boardwalk view club level rooms ?.....besides the view of course. Are rooms the same size and set up?

All of the BWI Standard rooms are identical, except for the few that don't have a balcony or are an end room and have one extra, small window.

Having one of "those days" where my trip just seems way too far away (both trips, but especially my December visit to the Boardwalk!) so I'm catching up on the current happenings. Living vicariously through these updates :)

Your trip will be here before you know it:)

Soooo excited! Just booked BWI for Spring Break / Easter! DD5 and DS12 will be so excited! We are booked in a Deluxe Club Level room and check in on March 26th, the day before Easter!

This will be our first club level stay at BWI so I have a couple questions:

Does anyone have any advice about room requests? I'm thinking we would like the convenience of being close to the lounge to bring breakfast into the room for the kids.

What should we do about Easter Baskets for the kids? I'm thinking they probably won't pack well (we are flying), and I don't want DD 5, who is a believer, to see them.

Are the club level rooms recently refurbished? Should we expect any construction during our stay?

Thanks for your advice!
