I recently saw the musical Big Fish and I have to say it's extremely underrated the music is amazing sand the story is one of the best I've ever heard. The musical follows Edward Bloom a small town Alabama boy who wants to be important but never really amounts to much so he makes up story's to portray himself as bigger. His son Will grows up with these stories but having a head of logic never believes his tall tales of witches and Giants and as his cancer stricken father nears his last days he attempts to find truth in the story's discovering his father bought a house with Jenny hill believing his father to have had an affair and his story's are made to hide it he almost confronts his father but Edward becomes weak and will goes away however Edward knows exactly what his son wanted and has a western nightmare in which his son tried to convict him. Not wanting to make there last days bad he attempts to find the truth in Jenny hill herself who tells him about how he saved a town and did almost have an affair but didn't. However as this goes on Edward is dying and will receives news and travels to tell his father he knows what he did was heroic even if he can't hear him in his comatose state. Edward wakes up and asks how it ends because years earlier a witch showed him how he died. His father never had telling him the story will doesn't know and makes one up where hos father ends up at the river for his own type of funeral with everyone real and fictional he's ever met. He sings the song How it ends (you can find it in YouTube defiantly worth a listen) confronting the fact that he knows he might not have been the hero or important man he always wanted to be but if anyone tells his story to remember him as something bigger than he was and that this end if the story all though bitter sweet us a good ending. Edward dies and everyone from his stories show up for his funeral all though now there not Giants or witches there real people showing the truth that always existed in Edwards tales. Will now understanding his fathers love for life through the stories he tells ends the show by reprising the opening song hero of your story (again well worth a listen the entire MUSUCAL is) to his son bringing the entire show full circle.
If that isn't like the best story ever than I don't know what is I'd really love to see Disney do this because it feels and plays like a Disney movie the musical is very underrated for how good it is will it ever happen I don't know. I just know I'd love to see this musical be made into a full length movie and I feel like Disney is the only company that would do big fish justice and honestly I'm serious go listen to the soundtrack this MUSUCAL is amazing. Thanks for viewing this long article and please tell me are there any musicals you'd love to see turned into Disney movies? Probably wicked would be on the top of my list next to this. Oh and this would be entirely live action
