Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Have they fixed the horrible Internet coverage at AoA yet? Last year, was horrific, couldn’t get coverage o/s lobby, made ordering minivans next to impossible.
We were in Bldg. 8 LM. I really only used it at night and it varied between slow and fine.

Does anyone have a sense of whether the planned fall pool remodel will be postponed in light of the present circumstances?

I think its too soon to tell, but I would imagine a lot of things will be re-scheduled or canceled because they will need to prioritize once they resume. I'm not sure what was planned for the pool refurb, but I wouldn't say the need is dire, so I would not be surprised if its postponed.

Thanks. Those were my thoughts too.
How are the AOA pools in late November? Warm enough to swim in? What about the splash pad?

November weather is hit or miss. Its honestly a 50/50 chance it will be warm enough for the pool. We've been the second week of November and had highs in the 50s, 70s, and one day in the 80s. The pools are heated, so just depends on your tolerance.

Does anyone know what the status was of the Little Mermaid room renovations when they closed down? I know building 7 was in progress and the original estimate was that they would have finished it up about a week after the resort shutdown. Anyone know if they did before all construction halted or if it remains incomplete?

I posted a separate thread on this, but does anyone have experience staying with their dog at AoA? I know all the rules; I’m just curious how it went specifically at AoA. We’d probably stay in Cars even if that wasn’t the “dog wing” LOL

I would also like to know the status of the LM rooms.

I haven't seen any reports confirming the status, but my assumption would be that the refurbishments are still incomplete. I don't believe they were finished prior to the shutdown, and I doubt they've continued work on it after the shutdown. Also, once the resort re-opens, it doesn't necessarily mean the refurbs will resume right away as they may need to shift priorities elsewhere since everything will be behind schedule. But the good news is that it sounds like there was not much left to complete. And FWIW, we stayed in a LM room in October prior to the refurbishment and didn't find it bad at all. It showed some signs of minimal wear and tear, but it was otherwise clean and fine. If you have a stay coming up, I'd request a refurbished room but don't be disappointed if you don't get one.

Thanks, I was hoping they may actually finish them during this time. The wear and tear is not the issue, it's that we do not want full size beds. Our trip is not til September now, so we still have time:) Both DD's have always wanted to stay there and the price was finally very close to Pop so we decided to go for it.

I'm not sure what the phased plan in Florida is but here in NY, construction projects can resume starting Friday. I would guess Florida construction has been given the green light to resume. Hopefully with the news of Disney Springs opening back up on May 20th, they will resume some of these construction projects as well.

Florida construction has been considered an “essential business” and has always been able to continue. It was Disney’s decision to pause all their construction/renovations. But yes, I hope we do see it resume soon!

Good to know. In that case, hopefully the Disney Springs re-opening will allow them to resume some of the lower risk projects as well. Its my understanding the AOA refurb was nearly complete, so hopefully it wouldn't take long to finish out.

Just wanted to say hi over here! Evidently we have the same taste in resorts! 😬

I've read about 40 pages of this, but I still haven't seen my question really answered, especially following the refurb. I don't have patience to read through the remaining 280 pages, so maybe you all can help me. I'm planning my trip for next year with 3 adults and 3 children (ages 8, 8, and 11). Would we all fit comfortably in a room at AoA, or should we look at 2 rooms somewhere else instead? Usually we sleep one adult and one kid in a bed, but I heard the sofa bed isn't comfortable for adults and I'm assuming our pre-teen will be approaching adult size. Any thoughts?

I’ve only stayed in the Cars and LK family suites (not LM rooms) , but if that’s what you mean, yes I think you’ll be fine. My teens have slept on the sofa bed and the pull-down, and my bestie (in her 40’s) has slept on the pull-down, with no complaints from anyone. Now, I found the regular bed to be pretty hard (and I like a firm mattress), but not enough to deter me from staying again (2021!!!). We like it a lot.

Super excited!! Booked at AoA in a LM room for Marathon Weekend - doing the Half!! (Ok, technically room on hold through my TA - deposit to be paid on Friday.)
