Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Just wanted to make sure got any new updates from this thread. This will be our first time not staying at Shades of Green and a bit of newness yet OH MY feeling going on... Down payment made and time to get to planning and excitement building!

Just thought of a question....we are in a Nemo Suite in April....are cribs available as an option or just pack n plays? And, are the pack n plays automatically in the suites or so you have to request them? Thanks!

How is room noise in the suites? Can you hear a ton of noise from neighbors and hallway?

We stayed in nemo lake view either one or two rooms from the elevator. Every once in a while we'd hear people outside the door (if nothing was on you could hear people) but thought it would be much worse than it was being so close to the elevator. It was never enough to be a nuisance or interrupt sleep though. Never heard any noise from outdoors.

Hello all, we have booked a "themed family suite" room for a stay next month. My question is, since the Nemo suites now cost more, do they still assign a Nemo room when you book this "open" category? Or is it Cars and LK only? Forgive me if this has already been asked a million times.:flower:

You most likely will be in Cars or LK. It's possible you could get Nemo, but that would be an upgrade so kinda rare.

Just pack n plays. I'm renting full sized cribs when staying there in May. If you go with the pack n plays, you need to request them from what I understand.

Good morning!

Forgot to add that I was pleasantly surprised to find resort themed merchandise at AoA and POP!!!
Some of the pop is on the Disney shop app.

@Mousemommy1 There were not pack n plays in the room so request. Also I noticed there are outlets down low (18" maybe?) from the ground so maybe Mason needs mom to bring outlet covers??

Can't stress how much I loved the resort. As Lys kept saying " no monorail, make up mirror or fluffy towels", lol but the theming and colors are great.

Small question, but I need to know if the Landscape of Flavors has Mickey waffles for breakfast - either the adult or kid ones. I know they had the character ones, and that they taste the same, and that it shouldn't matter. Lol. But, it will definitely matter to my 12 year old who believes that he must have Mickey waffles for breakfast his first morning at Disney World. Just wondering if the food court has them, of if we need to plan for breakfast somewhere else the first morning. Anyone know for sure? Thanks!

When we were there in Nov 2015 they had AOA themed waffles with nemo, simba, McQueen on them (if I recall). Pop has waffles with "pop" on then. Both are round. Bummer for my kids who love Mickey waffles-- but they liked the AOAthemed ones ok. Not sure why they've done this at pop and AOA-- hoping they switch back to Mickey!

Hi,

I am planning our 1st ever trip to Disney for this coming Fall. We are thinking about going 8/31-9/7 which will be over labor day weekend - we chose this particular weekend because we will have to take our kids out of school. Not such a big deal for our two kindergartner's but a big deal for our high schooler. Curious how the crowds will be over labor day weekend?

Also, trying to decide between AoA and Carribean Beach. Carribean beach is significantly cheaper (almost $1000, plus we can get the full free dining plan provided that it's offered again). However, AoA's room size is a huge plus with a family of 5 (possibly 6 if my older daughter decides to go- though I don't think she will). Kids ages are 5, 5, and 15. If we do AoA, it will be more expensive and we have to pay an upgrade fee to get the better free dining plan. If we do Carribean then the rooms are cheaper and we get free dining with no extra fees. Decisions decisions... we have never been to Disney so I am having a hard time choosing between the two resorts. I am leaning towards AoA primarily for my 5 year old's because the theme seems so custom to them. However if Carribean is just as nice, perhaps there is some money to be saved which could put a huge chunk of money towards our flights.

Can anyone give me some insight? What else should I be thinking about as a first time Disney traveler?

Oh, and if we stay at AoA, our agent mentioned booking the rooms I think in the Nemo area which is closest to the entrance/buses... However, i have heard great things about the Cars area, so wondering what the walk would be like and how far away we would be from where the food court and free drinks would be?

Thanks so much!!!

We've stayed 5 at CBR and the room was great--3 adults (me DH and my mom) and 2 kids 6 and 9. We've also stayed at AoA LM room (4 of us only). I think it partially depends on how much room you need ( ie separate bed is great with napping kids at AOA suites vs CBR)--but CBR you have 2 real queen beds and the Murphy bed. My kids were bored at the pools at AOA but loved the pools at CBR with the separate splash area and the main pool with water slides and hot tub. Theming is awesome at AOA and we also love Pop so it's fun to walk between the 2 and visit both food courts-- but it sounds like you will want the regular DP so probably are planning some sit downs vs lots of counter service. CBR food court is good too. Theming at CBR is terrific and the resort is beautiful and relaxing. AOA gets hectic especially the food court so be prepared; while CBR is spread out so doesn't feel as crowded. We have had good luck with busses at both resorts. If you plan to be mostly at parks and not really eating at the resort I would do CBR vs AOA for the cost savings. Have a great time!

My daughter will be 17-18 months old when we stay. Do I need to request a cot/crib or when they see an infant in the room do they know what to do?

You'll need to request a pack & play. They aren't automatically put in the rooms because some people will bring their own and some will rent an actual crib from an outside vendor.

pop has mickey waffles for the kids meals..or they have had in the past unless it is a recent change

My kids will be disappointed.. No Mickey waffles. Maybe i can sell them on the POP waffles

Yeah....mine is not gonna go for the Pop waffles at all. Boo. Mickey waffles are the tradition.

Same here! Not sure who's bright idea it was to replace mickey with "pop" and AoA themed round waffles....my kids were pretty upset! We did find them at CBR and Poly food courts-as well as at the breakfast buffets.
