Please add us to the list. We just booked for 3/30/16 - 4/4/16! Super excited. I had to cancel our May disney cruise since my friend got a new job and won't have much vacation. The discounts came out and I decided the kiddos (age 5 & 7) & I could do a short trip during their Spring Break. This will be their Christmas & Birthday surprise (Dec birthdays). I think they are going to love it. We stayed at WL in August and loved it - but I don't really want to brave the construction since we are planning on doing 3 park days and spending the rest at the resort.

I just did online check in for my Dec. trip to AKL Jambo - DVC villa and noticed that I had fewer choices compared to last year - last year, for example, I chose Arusha view (and got it) this year the choices are:
Upper floor
Lower floor
Kudu trail
Near elevator
We aren't staying club, so we'll be on the 5th floor, sort of ridiculous to even offer upper/lower floor as there is only one DVC non club floor.
What I'd choose - Zebra trail, Arusha view wasn't offered - so I opted against choosing @ all

Just booked 2 nights AKL CL from 4/29 - 5/1. It is for after our cruise on the Dream!

We have wanted to stay at AKL for some time, but haven't gotten around to it. Now, we will get to try it before our little one gets to an age where we will officially be a family of 5 and unable to stay in a standard room.

We are arriving at staying at CBR this trip. Plan to eat at Boma on one of our AK days, really want to book AKL for a BB next year. Anyone want to give me some advice on how long to plan before or after our Boma dinner to walk around tour the hotel and see the animals. I think I could stay there all day, but realistically how much time should I plan to tour the resort with my family of 5.

has anyone done the nightviewing of the animals at the lodge? Is it worth it for a six year old? is there a long wait? I am going in December and I don't want to keep her up to late when we have early breakfast reservations. Any thoughts?

We had a free savannah view upgrade on our first time staying at the AKL. The second time, they upgraded us to a pool view. Hoping for another upgrade this year!

The room request options during online check in are predetermined and limited. The options are the same no matter what room category you have booked so some of the options won't even be valid requests. I have always found it better to call the main reservations line and add any room requests to my reservation. Now that might not be possible if you are renting or using DVC points. If renting, the owner will have to contact member services and if you're using your own points you will have to contact member services.

You can add room requests any time from the day you book up until 5-6 days prior to your arrival. Rooms are assigned about 2-3 days out.

We are thinking about a quick two night stay at AKL early next June. There would be 6 of us (4 adults and 2 children) and we were looking into a 1-bedroom Villa with a Savannah View.

We are trying to decide if we should rent points (which I know doesn't give much flexibility if there are any changes/cancellation) or book direct with Disney. Are there any historical discounts that I could hope for at that time to bring the direct cost down closer to renting points?

How related are the families? We were just in a 1 bedroom SV, I would say that the pack n play would only fit in the master bedroom. The couch and chair are very close together when pulled out, the chair is movable. You might consider 2 studios instead.
