Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

2 days!!! :cheer2:

And yesterday Disney sent us three of the brand new luggage tags in the mail to us. Was a total shock as we had gotten the old ones before they started the role out of the new, so none in our Magicband box. So yesterday we were surprised with three grey Mickey Minnie ones. They're cute! None of us have the grey bands, but I thought it was an awesome pixie dusting on their part pixiedust:

On a side note, the bag packing started and it has been crazy! I'm tired haha!

Hi. This will be our first stay at ASSP. We stayed ONE night years ago at Movies. We decided this weekend to do a quick 4 night trip starting Aug. 22nd. I know nothing about this resort. We have a preferred room but where does that mean location wise?? Should I request anything?? IT will be myself and my 16 year old son. TIA

Location wise it'll be in the Surfs Up buildings, right next to the pool, lobby, food court, and close to the busses as well. If you want a quiter room, I'd suggest requesting a higher floor and (if possible) facing away from the pool.

You're going to have a great time, the Sports is so fun and really compact. The food court was renovated in 2013 with some great options. Also, the Sports is the first to get dropped off/picked up during the mid-day bus sharing, if you ever get a late start or come back before the end of the night.

How many floors are there at ASSP? I am assuming no elevators? I know requests are never guaranteed but will they take two requests like that?

Thanks so much!!!

Hey everyone. Last day of my trip is here and I will be heading to the airport soon for the plane ride home. Stayed at CSR in a preferred room, Casitas #2, ground floor.

Very hot here but we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Lots of food for me and the hubby with the free dining plan.

Just booked a quick solo getaway with the new room discount: 1/24-1/27 and staying at AS Sports, preferred. Saved a couple of dollars and gives me an excuse to come back right before my birthday. Anyone else taking advantage of the new promotions that just came out?

With a preferred room you are very close to the food court and bus stop. Sports is very compact so easy to navigate. Like a PP stated if you want quiet then ask for a room not facing the pool.

I received a letter today stating that the Grand Slam pool will be closed during our stay due to refurbishment. Any idea what this will do to traffic at the main pool?

Big deal???

It's been closed during some of my past stays and wasn't a big deal

They told us to use pools at music or movies

Yes the Grand Slam Pool will be closed for routine maintenance beginning Oct. 26-Dec. 18, 2015.

So, I have just booked accommodation for Sports for December '16. I was originally booked into business class at CSR, but have changed for budgetary reasons. We have stayed at CSR before and I loved it, so I'm a bit worried about being at Sports. I really hope the beds are comfortable. We are coming from Australia and are staying for 2 weeks. It's a long time to be at a hotel that you might not like! I'm trying to take hope from all the positive stories on here :-)

Value Resorts have double beds, not the queens you had at CSR. So they may be comfortable but they are smaller.
