Hello all!
DH and I went to Old Sacramento today to check out the Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour and it was "fully awesome"!!! We got there early, about 9:15 am to get in line to check out the train and a preview of the not yet complete movie starring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Cary Elwes, and Robin Wright-Penn. The train itself is filled with screen showing the concept art and character art and showing how they made the film using motioin capture. The art truly is beautiful. Then in the last few cars, you can interactively check out more of the art and then you can morph your face into a character in the movie! Pretty neat stuff. You even get to have the pictures e-mailed to you for free.
Once you are done in the train, you head over to the theater that they brought with them. Have you ever seen one of those jump houses? Well, that is sort of what the theater is like. It is an inflatable building with a movie theater inside and on the outside it looks like a classic london building. They give you 3D glasses and you get to enjoy 2 scenes from the film and a little more behind the scenes commentary.
As for the movie itself, Robert Zemedkis is a genius and with this movie he has done it again. The film's scope is amazing, the art is gorgeous and the actors are extremely well cast (Jim Carrey plays 5 characters, Gary Oldman plays 2.)
Oh, and did I mention that they bring out the snow machines so it snows like Main Street, USA at Christmas? Now that is pixie dust.
Trust me, if you are anywhere on the tour route, definately check it out. I give it
way up.
