Do you have to "cash-in" your points on the same day you earn them, or can you accumulate them over several days to go for an even bigger prize? Anyone know?

(For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's one of those kiddie-arcade places that give out coupons/tickets for winning the games -- you know, where the kids then turn the tickets in to get those really, really, REALLY!, great prizes that self-destruct 10 minutes later.....:sad2: )

You purchase a debit-card type card that you put in the games instead of coins or tokens. I really prefer that to using coins/tokens, as it's easier to set limits and keep track of what is spent. You just buy a $5 or $10 (or whatever) card, hand it to your kid (or spouse :rolleyes1, as the case may be ), and that's it!

:confused3 :badpc: :earseek: So you end up paying admission and games, are there any free, is it worth it going and blowing all your money on games, and is it expensive cause i have three kids and they all love video games so do you think it would be expensive for me?

 :teeth: :)

.... sorry if my reply was misleading!

ONLY the "kiddie" games in the REPLAY area that give coupons require extra money, and that's only because you get the coupons that you redeem for prizes (like places like Chuckie Cheese...).

There are TONS of video games (and more) at DQ, all for your admission price. The only times you have to pay extra for anything are to buy food, or to purchase things like a video of your CYBERSPACE MOUNTAIN ride or artwork from the animation area, etc.

DQ is most definitely (to our family, anyway) worth the price of admission!

I haven't been recently to answer your original question, but I know at the one in Chicago you could. Our best total was 8256 tickets! Once DQ in Chicago closed, we even used some extra ones we had left over on our next trip to WDW. But I can't say if they've changed the rules in the last 4 years!

o! ok thanx for telling me that! that was really important, thanx alot!
one more question, should i spend a few bucks on that games that give out tickets for prizes,is it a waist, are the prizes good or just use the free ones?

:earsboy: :confused3 :earsgirl: :teeth: ::MickeyMo  :Pinkbounc
-Thanx, Lilly :earsgirl:

The games that give out tickets aren't all that great. The first time we went to Chicago, those were included too and all my kids were focused on was getting the most tickets. They just played the games that gave you more tickets, rather than the ones that were more fun so I wasn't all that disappointed when they restricted it. Most of the pay games are the "gambling" types - stop the wheel on the right number, get the token in the dump truck.

The only exception would be if you have young kids - I know those also included the Skee Ball types and some bowling games. When my son was 4, he really liked those so I'd usually spend a couple bucks and let him play them a couple times. But otherwise, there's enough to occupy you with the zillion other games that you can certainly avoid those. As far as price, I think they were similar to a Gameworks in that you put money in a central machine which gave you a card with credits on it. Usually like 4 credits for a dollar and most games took 2-4 credits. The prizes also weren't anything much different than any arcade - I don't remember any real cool "Disney" prizes or anything.

I'd just ask before you leave the first day to make sure your tickets would be valid on another day and if they say no, cash them in then!

:rolleyes2 Thanks, marciemi! I was just about to "bump" my OP to get back on topic!

The games aren't that great, but when you're running around with a 9 y/o ..... What can I say? And they are right up there for the smaller kids. My DS always wants the most "expensive" prize they'll have, but if I suggest "holding" his coupons, NOOOOOOO! ...he's got to spend them right now, this minute! Then I have to listen to him whine & complain that "I couldn't get what I really wanted!" ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least since you can run the coupons through the machine that gives you a bar-coded receipt, keeping up with totals is easier. I'll ask the CM when we make our initial DQ run in May.

Thought I would post this for those interested. We asked, and you can accumulate your tickets and/or printed receipts to cash in at a later date. In fact, they will take and combine all your smaller printed (from the counting machine) receipts and print you a single one so you don't have to keep up with a dozen little pieces of paper.

I think DS & I accumulated about 3000+ tickets this past trip, thinking that way he could get "some really big prize" at the end. NOT! He still ended up choosing a zillion little prizes. Oh well.

Thanks so much for the info. I am sure my kids will want to collect tickets all day, but I will try to aim them towards the free stuff. Last time my teenager was with us and went to DQ almost every day (ditched us) so he warned me about the ticket games and told me how to mostly avoid the kids seeing them. Whatever he had us do worked because we managed not to have to spend anything besides on food that time. Too bad he is not going with us this time.

My kids keep bugging me to take them to Chuck-E-Cheese, pure torture.
