DisneyQuest Closing?

It was in the news and on a lot of blogs not too long ago.. There's going to be some sort of nba experience build in it's place.

I'm sorry but a petition has never stopped or changed Disneys mind in cases like this. It's closing and the NBA experience will be replacing it.

The only thing maybe up in the air is when it's going to close.

But I agree with the PP, an online petition will only make you feel good thinking you are trying to do something.

Has an online petition ever worked for such a major project?

I did a quick google search for "NBA experience Disney" and none the 1,210,000 hits said anything about it not possibly happening.

I love DQ but not if they are not going to keep it up. I used to work for the Convention and Visitors bureau in our town and when I first read 25 years or so ago that Disney was going to build 20 of them across the US I wanted one.

ETA: Did I little searching and yes some have made a difference but they were mostly policy changes.

Its going to be gone in 2016 (which cant come soon enough). It was great back when it first opened but now its so outdated that it needs to go. Although I'm not excited for the NBA experience, I'm always looking forward to new things at Disney. Best of luck with your petition but you don't stand a chance.

I will miss Disney Quest (opening team member) but it is so run down. After the American Express debacle then Chicago dismal numbers, Disney scrapped the idea of an indoor theme park. The cost of upgrading/Replacing current equipment is not worth it to Disney. This place was state of the art in 98'. Even the design had issues 6 mid ranged silicon graphic 2000's were hard to keep cool especially Alien attraction on the top floor. The VR units are clunky and had issues within the first year. Then add the floor and balls for astroblasters.

May this attraction rest in peace.

I know about the Chicago issue but what's the deal with American express.

American express sold disney a system of credit redemption for each attraction. Similar to what you see today in most arcades. Only thing is one american express did not fully own the patent to the system, and they got sued. We had to then turn off the system and convert to a day ticket instead of a pay per play. And we lost a money on the switch.

Oh OK I just assumed because a pay per play was a bad business decision and confused the hell out of people :). Like I posted above I've followed DQ from the very beginning.

Just wanted to add, they have removed the listing for DQ as part of the WPF&M package on the website.

Supposedly its still an option they just removed it from the website.

I am a Florida Resident and my family and I just visited DQ last month. I felt it was very overpriced considering they no longer have the VR games. The food was VERY expensive and tasted BLAH! A waste of $55 for four of us. The Cheesecake Factory no longer is the vendor inside of DQ. Boo! Regardless, the kiddos played for 4 solid hours and we were thankful we were able to let the kids experience the DQ before it turns into the NBA Experience. Why not an NFL Experience? Now, THAT I would enjoy!

Because Disney owns ABC and ESPN both of those properties have a much greater stake in the NBA than the NFL and the NBA was probably the sponsor willing to step in.
