I just have to say that I totally I agree with Kevin's comments on the Sept 21, 2011 podcast about the generic DisneyParks name on the merchandise at WDW and on the Disney Store Website. I don't want it. I want to take something home to remember my trips to Walt Disney World, not the Disney "cloud", shall we say. And since I don't want it, I don't buy it. And, logically, if people don't buy it, Disney won't sell it. If you like it, great, that's my opinion though. There's the topic. Discuss. Have coffeetawk.:surfweb:

I agree completely! We stopped buying stuff. We usually go to WDW 2-3 times per year. I can't remember the last time we bought any merchandise. Maybe an ESPN sweatshirt when I got cold.....that would be 2005?? It's not that we're cheap.....I just don't want cheap stuff. Books fall apart, mugs have to be hand washed, the t-shirts are the same everywhere, the cookbooks rehash the same recipes over and over......I could go on.

Disney Parks. Hate it. Tom Skaggs should be flogged.

Isn't this sad???? Why would you want this?

I totally agree! During our first trip as a family, we spent around $800 on souvenirs, including Polynesian specific merchandise. Last trip, we spent less than $300. Next trip, may be less than $200. And I have kids I'm shopping for...pretty significant drop in my spending, and it's honestly because (a) the merchandise quality is so much cheaper and crappier, and (b) the resort specific and park specific merch is hard to find or is not available at all.

Makes me sad. But it should make Disney shareholders and board members a lot more upset. Though I do wonder if the "average guest" spends less on merch or if they even notice.

I don't think the average "one and done" guest notices at all. They buy a t-shirt they will only wear a couple times, a keychain and maybe a coffee mug and they move on. They want cheap over quality and Disney knows it.

Everything might have a Disney Parks tag on it, but not everything says Disney Parks on the front or back. There is still some cool merchandise out there, you just have to search for it.

My point was not that you should stop buying Disney merchandise.

My point was that you should stop buying crap labeled Disney Parks that you can buy in Disneyland, Disney World or Disneyland Paris.

Disney is homogenizing their merchandise and I, for one, think it stinks.

I was just trying to think if I have anything that says "Disney Parks" on it and I can't think of one thing. I didn't even have to put any effort at all to participate in your boycott.

We have never been big 'souviner' buyers, but we buy nothing anymore, at least at the parks. Some of the DVC's have resort specific merchandise which is kind of nice...Kidani has quite a bit of Kidani merchandise.

I do totally agree about the homoginized 'Walt Disney Park' items. If I am going to buy something then I want it to be an Animal Kingdom item, or an Epcot item, or a Hollywood Studios item...not a generic Disny item.

I've been boycotting disneyparks mdse for the last few years. Last yr we didn't purchase much at all. Not to mention, alot of the stuff last year was just downright tacky! I did write and let them know. Hopefully they start listening

Me too. I haven't bought anything that says "Disney Parks" but I HAVE bought the park specific stuff, like some of the MK 40th anniversary items.

Love the graphics, btw.

I have never, ever bought anything that says "Disney Parks". I refused to from day 1. :thumbsup2

I don't like to buy stuff that says Disney Parks instead of Walt Disney World BUT..... THIS IS PURPLE and glittery LOL

I bought the Dooney and Bourke purse. I couldn't help it. It was just too damn cute.

But that's the only "Disney Parks" stuff I've purchased. I don't like it. I don't like this "One Park" crap, either.

The first time I saw "Disney Parks", I thought, "What is this? I don't want this."

It does cut down on the shopping, though! :)

I guess I'm just odd. That totally doesn't bother me. As long as it has a character of some sort on it, I automatically love it.
