Disneyland's Haunted Mansion returns with a heartbreaking new scene and more

Looks nice - it's more like the original bride. I liked Constance too, but don't mind the change.

It looks cool and like the library apparition from Ghostbusters. I did enjoy Constance with the hatchet and the missing heads but it's not a terrible change. I think people are going to have a bigger issue when they remove the stretching room hanging scene which I would agree with. A disclaimer could be fine like Disney puts in front of questionable past content on Disney+.

Yeah, I don't really think that they needed to change Constance because of her violent nature. Kim Irvine said it was strange to "celebrate" the murderess, but who's celebrating? She was one of the villains of the peice. Stories have villains. Constance wasn't the original anyway though, so she's not sacred or anything, but still. I would hate for them to change the Ghost Host because of the symbolism. How many of us always say we want to become the 1,000th Happy Haunt. It's fine. If they ever do change it though, they need to come up with something that works well with the story and looks good. I wouldn't though, just because it would eliinate some of the original Paul Frees narration.

Yeah, I don't know how you rework the Ghost Host portion without the scare other than you just make it dark and make the scream noise and maybe imply something bad happened. Maybe it's removing the graphic nature of the hanging body? Then it was "Awww, I didn't mean to frighten you" after just being pitch black. It feels like an unnecessary change in an attraction that has other disturbing elements like a person stuck in a nailed down coffin trying to get out while begging someone to "let me out of here" and two ghosts shooting at each other in a duel (how they died) that I would hate to see removed as well. It seems like a solution in search of a problem. I think a disclaimer either on the door or on the sign is more than enough.

And I too will miss the villain aspect of Constance because it tread a great line with the two visions of the attraction as whimsical and scary. This feels more like what Phantom Manor has in Disneyland Paris.

Yeah, the coffin guy, might trigger me - that's one of those things that's really scary to me - being buried alive or something. I mean, it's not a phobia, but it's enough that I want to be cremated!

I only just realized while looking back through the past of the attraction that Hatbox Ghost is one of Constance's victims! He did lose his head after all. I read that originally it was supposed to be ambiguous as to wheterh teh Bride killed him or a jealous rival suitor did.

I somehow had never noticed that, either. One of my all-time favorite pieces of Disney / WonderGround art is this Jeff Granito piece ("Congratulations and Condolences"), and there's the Hatbox at the bottom. (I just figured it was related to the attraction.)

You know, its just a ride in a theme park, folks...I dont think theres ever been anything traumatizing about it. I had more shocks and frights yesterday sitting through 20 minutes of trailers for HORRIBLE movies while waiting to see A Complete Unknown yesterday....what trash they put out now....

I get both sides. Empathy helps.

I get taking a younger child in that ride with an ax murderer as a main scene may be a bit off putting.

Then again , I would hate to see the headless horseman go away.

How did the new hitchhiking ghosts look?

What was the audio in the attic? Can you put it in spoiler tags?
TBH: I am not detail oriented enough to have noticed the audio. And I thought the hitchhiking ghosts looked great.

I like the changes

The Bride is better Period...yes the answer they gave on why they replaced the old one is B to the S but the new one is an improvement

The updated Hitchhikking ghosts are great to get a photo with and think they are an improvement

Over all....I think the HM is just in the best place its ever been maybe not perfect but its darn near close

I rode for the first time today and I don’t recall the audio in the attic as I was focused on scanning for the bride but the hitchhiking ghosts are noticeably improved—they look great, very clear and fun to see them in the doom buggy with you.
