We are going to DL this coming week and one person in our group is bringing a full size backpack (as opposed to a sling bag or backpack purse thing). This person will not be riding the following rides:

Indiana Jones
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
California Screamin'
Tower of Terror
Mulholland Madness

She is concerned about what she will do with the backpack on the other rides. In particular, she's concerned about:

Soarin'
Matterhorn
Toy Story Mania
Thunder Mountain

Am I correct in assuming she can just keep the backpack on her lap for Fantasyland rides? What would be the plan for the above rides? By the way, this backpack is sort of the group's stash of snacks, blanket, and change of clothes for the little ones... no valuables like cameras or wallets.

We carry a regular backpack on all of the rides. There is plenty of room near your feet. I don't think you will have any problems. If you do, there are lockers available that you can use to store the bulky stuff. Have fun!

FYI - there are free lockers to use while you use while ride Grizzly Rapids in California Adventure. You get soaked on this ride!

I take a large bag on all rides- either put it in the storage "bag" in front of you, or for rides like screaming, BTMRR, Space Mtn etc I tuck it between my legs and then wrap the shoulder strap around my wrist. It doesn't go anywhere.....doesn't move an inch in fact.

Last Month I took a Large Backpack (with our snacks for 3 teenagers, and extra cloths, ect.) On All the Rides with me. There was no Problems!

I have taken a larger backpack with me before for the same types of stuff (snacks, blankets, sweaters, diapers & clothes for the kids). When I would get on the ride, I would place the bag between my legs and was just fine. I often stuck my leg through one of the shoulder straps (or both) to keep the bag from flying around to much.

The person carrying the bag should be totally fine on the rides. If it does get uncomfortable carrying the bag, I would highly consider renting a locker for the day to store things like sweaters for the evening or blankets. I have even heard of people bringing a small insulated lunch box for their snacks and leave it in a locker. If you park hop, just keep your locker receipt but pick up your stuff, and you can get a locker at the other park by showing your receipt.

Have fun! :thumbsup2

She wont' have any problems.

TSMM she'll just put it at her feet or on the seat in between her and whoever she rides with.

Soarin' has a nice big mesh thing underneath the seat.

BTMRR has a mesh pocket (the pocket part is roomy, the opening is narrower to keep things in as much as possible), but I usually just hand onto my backpack/purse.

Matterhorn, just hold onto it!

And if she ends up going on the other rides, it still won't be a problem. Indy, Space, and Screamin' have the mesh pockets in easy reach. The others, just hold onto it. I would highly recommend a poncho on Splash, if ONLY for the backpack, if the rider doesn't mind their own body and clothing getting wet.

Yeah there shouldn't be a problem on any of the rides you have listed. I always lug around a full size and packed back pack with me when I go to the parks, and there's plenty of lap and feet room.

On Soarin', it would probably be better to leave the back pack off to the side where the posts are, hard to explain but you'll see where when you are inside. It's were a person would park a wheelchair or ECV scooter, your bag may be too big or not very trustworthy in the nets under the seats. Everyone else will be on the ride so don't worry about someone messing with it while you're up.

On Indiana Jones, if they decide to ride the person will probably need to place the bag between their feet and just hold on to it during the ride, so I wouldn't recommend them sitting on the left or right outer side seats - no sure if the nets are large enough.

I take my backpack with me on all the rides except for GRR. For that I use the free two hour lockers over by the ride. I have never had a problem.
