My family and I are annual visitors to Disney World in Orlando but this year my husband has decided that he wants to visit Disneyland in California. In Florida we usually rent a home for a week and we would like to also do that in California. I am having the hardest time finding something comparable to what we get in Florida. A private home, at least 3 bedooms and 2 bathrooms, nicely furnished, game room, pool & possibly a hot tub for around $900 for a week's stay.

If anyone can make any recommendations, please do!

I have had this same problem in the Anaheim area. We prefer to stay in VRBO homes whenever we travel. However, this is an expensive area and I haven't been able to find anything in the past for the price you are looking for. Not trying to be a downer, but realistically you are looking at 1500+ for a week for the house you are describing. You might be able to get into that budget with less bedrooms and no pool.

Not knowing how many people you need beds for, I found these that were on the cheaper side. I'm not sure you will find a place $900/week (esp not knowing your travel dates either). You can always contact an owner and see if they have any specials or deals?
We have rented homes from VRBO several times and have had great experiences with them. The perks of having a full kitchen & laundry facilities really helped our vacation.
Hope you find something that works!

We've rented a 3 bedroom attached home through VRBO for our end of April trip. We paid $1700 for the week and will have plenty of space, but it doesn't include it's own pool. The complex has a communal pool/play area. But that's about the best you are going to get!

It's just more expensive than Florida cause your options are more limited.

The cost of living is just much, much higher in LA/Orange County than it is in Orlando. If you go here:

http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/savings/moving-cost-of-living-calculator.aspx

and plug in Orlando on top, Los Angeles/Long Beach on the bottom, you'll see that overall cost of living is 36.7% higher. But if you then look at the line for apartment rents, LA is 2.4 times as much as Orlando! thats 140% higher! If you apply that to your $900/week, you come up with an adjusted price of $2160/week. Which sounds about right to me.

BTW, all the VRBO pointers here are for the same condo complex, the one with the pools in the center here:

I rented a condo there for the family. Pretty good walking distance to the trams at the Micky & Friends lot; so it's about as convenient a rental as you'll find. Still, I was underwhelmed with the complex. Now, my perception was probably colored by the fact that the unit I was in had cockroaches :scared1: Also, it was late season (October), so the pool was kind of abandoned, and looked it. Even DGD didn't swim there for long. But the whole place just felt kinda low-class to me. I'm not a fan.
