Disneyland trip this weekend Saturday or Sunday?

So my wife and I are going to Disneyland this weekend. We have a park hopper ticket, and an after 4pm to Disneyland (not California Adventures) pass, my initial thought was to go Saturday all day because the local passes were not valid that day then Sunday use the after 4pm pass, as they're still open until midnight, however I'm wondering if Sunday might be a better time to go all day simply because vacationers might be leaving Sunday as opposed to staying all day. I do have an event I'll be going to on either Sat or Sun so it doesn't matter which day I go for that.

I was originally going to do Monday, but was a bit miffed that the park closed at 6pm, also Friday at 7pm closure put a hamper on that (I don't want to pay a premium price to stay later in the park and get some candy). We've done Disney in the off season where the park closed at 8/9pm, but those times are usually no problem simply because the crowds are so small time isn't an issue (although lack of late night parades/attractions is sad).

So is there a preferred date to stay all day? I was really hoping that being in the middle of school season it'd be a no brainer either way, but realized maybe there are people like me who'll more then happily take time off work to go :D

Neither my wife nor I have seen Fantasmic so we really want to be there on a night during the weekend.

Also as aside, is World of Color still a mad dash to the fast pass booth to see the show? I saw it in June, 1.5 hour wait in line to get a pass when California Adventures opened! Think I'll pass if i need to do that again.

It's tricky, because some APs are blocked on Saturday and that is a busy day anyway. But they come on Sunday and that make it a busy day too. Still I think Sunday will get calmer late at night to get kids to bed.

Friday isn't that bad if you want to do DCA in the evening. It will be busy as people in DL move to DCA when the MHP starts in DL. But if you can't do both sat and sun in DL at night may as well have a night in DCA. ElecTRONica should be good too.

The lines are supposed to be going a bit smoother now as it is slightly more orderly, at least the CMs know what's going on. If you go on Friday the WoC ticket line will go much faster. Probably 30 minutes since less people can be there that morning.

Yeah, that was my mindset, damned if I do... The after 4pm tickets we have, don't expire for a while, so if I manage to get Disneyed out no need to use them (This will be the 3rd time we're going this year... although not really planned, more like we were in the area so why not?), but the kids going back to school on Monday really has me leaning for using those after 4pm passes then anyways on Sunday regardless. Plus if I miss any late night shows (still haven't seen Fantasmic) I get a second shot.

Yeah, I thinking of leaning more towards focusing more on DCA with the parkhopper pass, for that reason.

Good to know, I went first in June, with a large group of family members, so the two that had the AP and go all the time were the ones who waited in line with all our tickets to get the fast pass. Also going from Indian Jones to WoC with a kid in tow when the show starts in 20 minutes was quite the adventure :D

Thanks for the reply, makes my decision fairly easy, so one less thing to worry/think about :D
