Disneyland ticket age difference

Hello everyone. We bought our DL tickets early 2020 (Canadian resident tickets). Disneyland finally extended them to include this summer. (does anyone know how to check when your tickets expire, they went in the app fine!) Well, one of my daughters was 9 for summer of 2020 so we got her a kids ticket. Now she will be 11 for summer 2022. Is there a way we can pay to get the ticket upgraded to an adult ticket? I heard a rumour that due to covid we didn't need to change the ticket but don't want to show up in July and need to upgrade and lose our reservation. Anyone know?

I'm in the same situation. My DD was 9 when we bought tickets in January 2020 and now she's 11. From what I've heard, we will need to change her ticket to an adult ticket. I talked to a CM on the Disneyland site chat window about it and they said you just go to the ticket booth at the park and they can upgrade it there and you can pay the difference.

I don't see how it would cause you to lose your reservation.

Thanks, I had heard that if the park was full (No reservations left) that when they cancelled your one ticket to issue another you could lose your reservation. This seemed bizarre to me but thought I would check. I also heard that if you purchased during covid they would honor the ticket with the wrong age, but can't remember where I heard it lol. A short line at the ticket booths isn't the end of the world. I am worried they will charge me way more than just hte upgrade seeing as I got it during the Canadian resident sale so paid quite a bit less. Either way, I'm happy, as long as it'll work!!!

I’m in the same boat as well. We bought ours at the end of 2019 during the Can resident sale. The last update I saw was they were extended to Dec 16, 2022. We have reservations for May (incl for my 11 yo on a child ticket) and have been anxiously watching the ticket calendar hoping no issues to upgrade when we arrive.

You can probably call and buy a ticket while on the phone. Then they’ll cancel the old ticket. I’d guess that it will be at the regular rate so quite a bit more.

We just returned from Disneyland with our 2020 purchased Canada resident tickets. They did not ask for proof of residency and they did not question my daughters age, either. She is 10, but very tall for her age. We had no problems! Also - when I had originally purchased the tickets I had added max pass, so made a quick stop at the ticket booth and they gave us a refund for that on a gift card, which I was able to use to buy genie+

If a child turns 10 mid-trip, can you remind me how does that work? I am not asking what I can get away with, I want to do it right. As long as they are 9 on the first day they enter a turnstile they are golden as far as their multi-day tickets correct?

What about dining reservations? I am specifically wondering about night-time show special events and character meals? Do I book them on a dining reservations as a child the first half of the trip and as a Disney adult the second? Or is it all a magic time warp where they stay 9 until they leave?

If it's going to be a hassle, I can move our dates up a few days but it's less ideal.

I'm in the same boat with Canadian resident tickets with maxpass. I understand we need to get the money back on a GC, did you need to buy genie every day or could you just use the GC and buy it for all the days at guest services?

I had to buy genie+ every morning once we were in the park. I was able to pay using the gift card. I don’t believe you can buy Genie+ a head of time for Disneyland? Unless it’s part of a ticket package, but I could be way off base there. In my case, I couldn’t purchase it until we were scanned into the park.

Thanks for the info!

Also, did you inquire at all about changing your daughters ticket to an adult ticket or just go with the flow? No one asked her age at all? I feel like many people will be in the same boat and I'm very interested to see how Disney handles these Canadian tickets where the child aged out.

I'm starting to get nervous about this as my daughter is 1.5 years into the adult ticket age and I don't want to break rules in anyway. I'm more than willing to pay the upgrade, just don't want to lose my reservation which is the only problem I can see (but it's a huge problem)!!! I wish they would release a statement on how to deal with this situation. I just emailed them so will see if they get back to me and with what advice.

I didn’t ask, I figured if we were asked for Canadian ID etc it might come up. The guy who scanned us in and took our pictures was VERY easy going, but with the crowds etc I doubt they would question unless you child is much older than 10.

Sorry to bump this back up but I had another question. Did they ask for any ID of the adults (or anyone?)

Have you gone/are you going soon? I see you said May was your travel. Any update on your child ticket situation?
