This trip was planned very late and at the last minute. We have had a week here - my son broke his arm, but has a waterproof cast and is good for rides and we had to put our 10 year old dog to sleep. Haven't spent a lot of time planning, will get MaxPass. We'll be in the parks Sunday through Tuesday. What is one last minute dining or special event you would book? I'm really leaning towards booking WoC dessert or lunch at Wine Country Trattoria. We're Disney World vets, so WoC is new for us. Had plans to just wing it, but feel like we should do something special. Only other thought - Goofy's Kitchen. Suggestions or thoughts? Is WoC dining a better deal than Fast Pass in terms of viewing area?

Sorry to hear about your dog. We had to do that out of the blue on mother's day two years ago. Dogs are family.

As far as your trip goes, just go with the flow. Let go of that plan everything WDW approach and do what comes. You can see the shows without spending extra. It's especially easy to see the second shows. The crowds are cut by at least half. Sometimes more. Whatever you decide, have a great time.

Thank you for your advice. That's how we're leaning. I've cut a bunch of plans for the LA/Hollywood part of our short trip, just because we need more relaxation after the last week. I just have a wee bit of anxiety that we haven't planned "enough". I'm going to ignore that thought, purchase MaxPass in the park, focus on the few new things we've not done at WDW and enjoy!

This is all so true!

But I admit, I loved the WoC dessert party. It was really special, and so lovely to have a seated experience at a show after being on our feet all day.

You do need a break for relaxing. Disneyland can be a good place. Don't over plan, go with the flow and you'll be fine.

I know you say your son has a waterproof cast, if it gets wet be sure to get it dry to the skin surface.

Instead of Goofy's, WOC dessert party will be a nice perk for you. It takes so much chaos out of seeing WOC. Especially since WOC is new to you.

I'll be there this Sunday morning as well. Make sure you make rope drop! I'll be one of the first people on Peter Pan. Keep an eye out for me. I'll be the good-looking guy in the Cubs cap ;-).

I also highly suggest the WOC dessert party. We did it in July and loved the VIP treatment and being able to sit & relax during the show with no pushing or shoving. It was perfect!

Obviously be aware that there are marathons today, Saturday and Sunday. Those often make getting to the park a hassle. If you're there early and make the rope drop, you should be fine.

We're arriving in Anaheim in the afternoon on Sunday, so I hope we will miss the race crowd. Will definitely hit RD the days following!

It's been super hot. Like crazy hot. Bring your hats, sunscreen, tons of water and a personal fan and/or cooling towel.

It hit 107 today in LA. Forecasts were looking good for Sunday but now they're back in the mid 90s :-(.
