Last week of May we are staying at the DL Hotel for 5 nights first then 2 nights at Huntington Beach. My girls are 14 and 8 and taking my niece who is 19. Does anyone have a recommendation for HB hotel...trying to decide between Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort? This is our 1st trip out West and I want a room facing the ocean. Flying in and out of John Wayne Airport and not renting a car so will be using shuttles, cabs, etc. Thanks so much for any recommendations!

I haven't stayed at the Hilton, but I spent a weekend at the Hyatt Huntington Beach last January. It is a gorgeous resort with many wonderful amenities. They have a 'spa grove' where you can hop amongst various hot tubs, a kids water play area, and a bridge crossing over Highway 1 with easy access to the beach. They provide beach towels and umbrellas, chairs, etc. to make your beach visit more enjoyable. It's an easy walk (along a sidewalk or on the sand) to the Huntington Beach Pier. There is a cute little 'marketplace' area which has a few restaurants and a 'convenience' store/coffee cafe. And the spa is fantastic! For being a hotel guest, you can enjoy their steam rooms, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation room for free. They also have a nice koi pond outside and there are free koi feedings every day. The property is gorgeous with lovely little nooks and crannies, including cozy fireplaces which are lit at night. It truly is a *resort* and you will find your stay there very relaxing. My girlfriend and I went for a 'spa weekend' and we loved it so much that we're planning on going back there again next year!

You can easily get a room facing the ocean at this hotel.

If you plan to use the spa facilities, go for the spa package. The rate looks really expensive, but it includes the parking, resort fees and taxes, as well as 2 massages or facials at the spa. Totally worth it.

The Hilton Waterfront is literally across the street from the beach and right around the corner from Main St and all the fun shops and restaurants. We'll be there for a couple nights this April. The location cannot be beat and it's a gorgeous property.

The Hyatt is a bigger resort overall, the Hilton is closer to downtown. You really can't go wrong being that close to the beach and in that area. Have fun!
