Disneyland STROLLER PICS?

Just a note about bringing strollers on planes (we're bringing ours since it reclines etc. for the 11 month old and also renting one for the 3 year old).

I actually like having the stroller at the airport too and you can just gate check it. If you haven't done this before, you just bring it all the way to the gate with you, tell the counter people that you want to gate check it, they'll give you a tag, you leave it down the walkway right before you get on the plane and then it's there waiting for you in the same place when you land. (The airport people stow it somewhere on board in the same place wheelchairs go).

So it's not too big of a deal even if it's a large stroller.

I am another one that says take your own. I couldn't imagine not having our own stroller and having to depend on others, waiting in line, getting a dirty one or broken...who knows. If you go to DTD then what do you do? I not only use mine for tired kids but to keep them safe. What I mean by safe is not being pushed or stepped on by people in crowded areas and such. I can put them in there and protect them if you will. I also use it to "trap" them, did I just say that?!! I can't carry two kids when they get tired either. We always take our stroller and have never had a problem with anyone touching it or stealing it. I have an expensive stroller too (Peg Perego). We don't leave anything impo. in it when we leave it like others have said. I like to have my hands empty so I can tend to my child if needed, hence the stroller, I throw everything in or on it! I always put all four breakes on so it is harder for others to move it if they wanted to. I have flown with it as well. Like the last post suggests, you can take it all the way up to check in. I always pack prepared and if I don't use something it's ok, but I would rather have it if I needed it. I am another one who will not recommend an umbrella stroller for so many reason. What ever makes things easier for you is what I would suggest you to do.

Everyone has to consider their own kids/family etc to decide EVERYTHING about planning these trips. The stroller seems minor, but to all of us moms who are posting here, you can tell we are each passionate about our stroller decisions! Go Moms! (and Dads... sorry!)

Just had to say this is so so true! Something that seems so minor can become a big deal if going into it unprepared. I actually can't wait till the day I can rent when #3 is about 4 or 5 and the other two won't need one at all if we're staying close!
But in the meantime, it's just not practical for me to rent!

It's so great though I think to see threads like this that make you think of things on both sides that you may not even thought to consider. Makes it easier to know if you're making the right choice or not. Hooray for all of us on the DIS!!

OP, I hope you have been able to figure out what will work best for you!!!

We're locals and even we rent. We put the baby in our own stroller, and the 3 year old in a rental. He sleeps just fine in it.

I second this!!! This is one of the main reasons we are bringing our own stroller-is for the rush through the airport. My husband is a pilot for a smaller airline so he helps with the luggage sometimes and knows strollers are no big deal to check for under the plane.

We will be flying with DS2 next month. I actually bought a new stroller for the trip that is lightweight, one hand folding system and reclines for naps. It is the Maclaren Quest Sport, which has received great reviews in the Family boards. This way I will have stroller at the airport, to and from the parks and in the parks. I can't imagine walking around the airport with a preschooler or toddler with all carryon's and masses of people. I also don't care for the park strollers at least at WDW they look uncomfortable.

To the OP: see if you can find a cheap travel stroller, it will be useful later on with your child for other trips and daytrips at home.

heres what i think... if your planning to park in the structure, rent a stroller... you will end up waiting there for more than an hour trying to get out of the park...

if your living in a close-by hotel, i suggest you bring your own, that way you can push your sleeping kid home :P
