This might seem like a strange request but does anyone have a picture of what the strollers look like that you can "rent" in the park? I'm going back and forth about bringing my own and just leaving at the hotel and sending someone back to get it when we need it...(we're staying close) or to just rent one in the park as needed. I've heard they don't recline and the reason for getting one will be when my 3 year old just can't take walking anymore......sooo...any pics of Disney rented strollers? Thanks!:) :goodvibes

Here you go!

The kids are 4 and 7 in the picture.

Last year we took a cab to the Target down the street and bought a cheapie for $12. Totally worth it in my book. We also bought a case of water for $5.50 and all the snacks we needed... it was an excellent use of $20 in cab fare. We saved well - probably 100s of dollars in snacks and water and stroller rentals, etc.

Bring your own! (Edited because the rest of the post is down below, don't know how just this line posted! LOL)

I disagree about taking your own... here is my reason. The rental ones are really good strollers, jogger types. Umbrella cheap-o's are hard to push and the handles are starngely too low (for us anyway. Maybe we have monkey arms, I dont know.) AND strollers are always "walking off" when you get on a ride! The rental ones just keep getting traded, but if you have your own Id worry about it leaving without you. It happened when we were there. Maybe purely on accident, but either way, youre left carrying a child. (PLUS the stroller rental was free since we used a Disney Credit card.)

Exactly what I needed..THANK YOU!!!
We'll be packing lots of snacks too.....the cheapie stroller would be great....but my son is really big for 3 and I know one of the small umbrella strollers would be more of a pita than worth it for us. He can drag his feet in anything ....but these don't look too bad that Disney offers.........one more question......can you pay one price and rent them..then return them and get it back later?

Bring your own! Their's don't recline, and there's not a lot of storage and we bring lots of water bottles/snacks for the day. Plus if you rent, you would not have one to walk around DTD at night, or for walking back to the hotel at the end of the day. (That is when I need one the most and when my kids are the most tired. No way I am carrying them back at night!)

Also you save money bringing your own and here's what we do. If we won't need it for a while, we park it by a ride and visit the whole land we are in before ever going back for it. Then you wouldn't need to go back to the hotel for it, you would still have it there when you need it. But you don't have to worry about it in between every single ride.

Hmmm good point. THe thing is though ours is is Graco big floppy stroller that is great for room, storage, reclining.......but what a pain to have to check it on at the plane....etc etc etc.... Oh decisions decisions.

About storage: You cant leave anything in it anyway. If I leave an open sippie cup or bottle of water and then get on a ride.. there's no way Id give that cup/bottle to my kid for fear of ick being in it from who-knows what or where! Im weird like that. So storage wasnt an issue. I kept everything in a small tote which I hung on the stroller when walking but took with me on rides and we used fanny packs, as looking like a dork is ok in DL! ;) BUT ditch the fanny packs when you get back to your home town! ;) Seriously... dont leave anything of value in either stroller. My vote remains: rent theirs. PS: the rental was a whole day rental, so after nap you get a new one. Yes, return the first one on your way out.

one more thing: the recline. Once the kid is nappy, head back to the room! You will need a nap too anyway! We are sort of group-nappers when on vacation. When one starts nodding, we all head back to nod! :) If you already have your room picked out, you are a step ahead of us! So, dont feel so bad about these little details! :) I should be reseaching rooms, and Im talking about strollers instead! Oh well... I need a break. SPEAKING OF... with the rental stroller you do end up carrying the tired kid back to the hotel at the end of the night. THAT was a downside... but thankfully, I had my husband to perform all the child carrying duties. ;)

Yeah I go alone with my 3 little ones, and there is no way I can carry them back at night, or in the afternoon for that matter. We leave stuff in the stroller all the time and never have a problem. Nothing of value of course (camera, etc.) but I am not lugging all the diapers/wipes/etc on every ride with me. It's hard enough to get in the ride vehicle with all three let alone having to worry about slinging a backpack. We seriously take about 10 water bottles each day along with snacks for 3 kids, no way I'm carrying that. Plus we bring sweatshirts, hats and sunscreen if it's hot, etc. It may work for some but backpacking it doesn't work for everybody.

Also it just isn't always possible to head back "once the kid is nappy" Other things get in the way sometimes of leaving at an exact moment. Also the fact that because of all the walking, etc, my kids nap at completely different times while there because they are more tired. So my guess would be as good as anybody's as to when they will conk out!

Rent, rent, rent!

As previous poster noted....these are good strollers, not the cheap umbrella types.

One of the best things about renting is the ability to leave it at a ride, not worry and take your receipt to the next stroller counter and getting a "fresh" one.

Other great thing: Not messing w/a stroller on the trams to the car or onto the bus. Frankly, everyone is tired and crabby at the end of the day and no one wants to be hit in the head w/a cheap umbrella stroller or even a giant Graco. Your child will not be allowed to STAY in the stroller on a tram or bus anyway, so you'll juggle a sleeping kid, a pack of stuff and try to close a stroller before the tram pulls away without you.

Funny "stuff in the stroller" note: at WDW this year, my kids were playing in Dinoland and I turn to a personal stroller left unattended near the entrance and on top of the stroller, in the heat of the FL sun, are an opened package of HOT DOGS. No bag, just ripped open, baking in the sun on TOP of the stroller canopy. I almost threw up looking at it thinking of the kids eating that later!

Another vote for renting. If you have a Disney Visa card it's FREE! Otherwise, it's $7.00. The thing I really appreciate about the Disney strollers is the wheels don't get caught in the trolley tracks going down Main Street and around the hub. They are also very very comfy for our 4 year old who poops out pretty quickly.

OP is staying at the crosswalk so no trams or shuttles to worry about. That is the reason that I make sure I stay within walking distance is to not have to worry about all that with a stroller. Not to mention that the stroller lines get huge and I would rather not waste park time waiting in line for a stroller.

Just curious, what do you guys that rent do if you want to walk around DTD and such after the park closes? I guess because mine are littler, there's no way I cold do it without my personal stroller. We even like to go eat breakfast before the parks open at the Grand and that's quite a walk in and back out from the hotels on Harbor. My 3 year old would never make it through the day if she had to walk all that before we even started our regular miles of park walking!

I find it funny about the moms that are worried about leaving sippy cups and stuff in the stroller yet you are not worried with rentals that the kid that rented it the day before you had lice or a blow out diaper. I'm not the paranoid type but atleast with my own stroller I know where it's been and whose been in it.

Missed this part before. Yeah that's kinda hard then. I don't really care for little umbrella strollers either, but we bought a stroller that's in between a cheesy umbrella and a regular stroller. It was only about $35-$40 and it does recline, has one cup holder, a storage basket, sunshade and is compact and easlily foldable.

We haven't used it in a while because I have to use a double for 3 and 1 year old but that would work. I am just so worn out at the end of the day myself that there's no way I could carry my 38 pound three year old back to the room, crosswalk location or not!

But honestly whatever you think will work better. Basically take the pros and cons everyone has listed and decide which factors are more important for you and your son. Atleast now you have some ideas that you may not have thought about from both sides and hopefully it will be easier for you to make a decision!! Good luck!

We've went the rental route the last couple trips (hence the reason I had a picture of my kids in the strollers!). The trip in Oct 05, when we has a 3 year old and 7 year old it was a pain! We stayed at PP. It was a long walk back at night without a stroller. We ended up having to carry the 3 year old, and he is heavy! The following trip (march 06) we stayed at the candy cane. The shuttle was great. We never had to carry him back to the hotel, he could make it as far as the shuttle parking area. We will be staying at the candy cane again on our next trip, and using the rental strollers. We don't typically rent two. Our older child usually walks. I can't even remember why she was in one that day.

Plus if you rent one, you cant' take it to DCA or Downtown Disney. They all look alike hard to find yours in a huge parking lot.

True about the strollers possibly harboring "ick" from a previous child. Totally true. We take anti-bac wipes, but those are only so good... so that is a great point to consider. Also with the rides though... who knows what is there. (Let's not get me freaked out! Ahhh!) One funny, funny hint if you take your own stroller to keep people from touching it and/or taking it. Soak a disposable diaper with coffee or some other such gross colored fluid. Then, fold it so you can see the ick and put it in a gallon zipper bag. Keep in or on the stroller in a highly visibile place (like the post about the gross hot dogs!) and nobody would want to touch it. I wonder if that was what the hots dogs were for! How funny, but it works! Everyone has to consider their own kids/family etc to decide EVERYTHING about planning these trips. The stroller seems minor, but to all of us moms who are posting here, you can tell we are each passionate about our stroller decisions! Go Moms! (and Dads... sorry!)

We have rented, and although my dd was 6 last time she still wanted a stroller, too much walking. Depending on where you are staying having your own can be a problem or a help. Problem if you have to deal with a shuttle and a help if you don't have to drag a tired kid.
You can take the stroller from DL to DCA but cannot take the rentals to downtown disney.
If you rent, take a cheap scarf (I got one for 1.00 at walmart) and tie it on the handle, so you can find yours in a sea of rental strollers.....
