Anyone have any experience modifying an existing reservation when the Disneyland Resort hotel discount rates are released? I have existing GCH reservation for mid-August, tracking mousesavers to see when the room discounts are released. I have an AP and Disney Visa. Do I call the AP number, hotel reservation line, or special Disney Visa line when/if the discounts are announced?

Wondering if anyone has a suggestion before I start calling around.

I called reservations directly and got a discount applied to an existing reservation for an August trip. Good luck!
We have done it many times, looks like nothing for July this year.

I just called to make a DLH reservation this morning using the Disney Visa discount for August - yay! I considered waiting until the discount is released to the general public on June 26 because I prefer to book online, but didn't want to risk our dates/room category selling out.

The CM said that I will not be able to view or modify my reservation online and must call to make any changes in the future. I'm not sure whether that's accurate but if so, I'm assuming that's only because I made my original reservation by phone. I'd like to at least view my reservation online. :( Has anyone had success pulling up a DL phone resort reservation online? (Already tried once using the "My Reservations" screen on the website - no luck.)

I had booked my reservation online and could go online to make payments and see reservation. But I modified our stay for a 3 bedroom suite at DLH and now I cant see my reservation online or make payments. They said that it was because i had modified it over the phone.

Word on the street is that Disneyland will now make you cancel and rebook, rather than just apply a discount to an already existing reservation.

Just did that, you have to cancel and rebook at the current pricing, not what you had before. Still saved about $500, still paying way less then standard, then we saved another $500 thru their 10% GC offer, not bad so far. I did not see it on the Disney Website, came as a email. Says not for public offer until the 26th.

I just got off the phone with reservations and they did not make me cancel and rebook my September Grand Californian reservation, they just modified it. Saved $900 - holy cow, what a delightful surprise!

I called and rebooked for my dates as well, but he only gave me 2 options of rooms with discounts. GC and PP nothing at DLH. I thought that was strange. Should i call again and try again?

Are you all booking your reservations using the visa card? I have an existing reservation that i paid off using giftcards however i do have a disney visa but dont want to put my vacation on it. Or are they giving the general public discounts if you call in?

I used my Disney Visa for the deposit when I made our original reservation so I am not sure....but interestingly the cast member that modified our reservation said to receive the discount I would need to use my Disney Visa when I checked in to pay the balance. Whether that is true or not who knows - I've heard that sometimes erroneous information could be given over the phone lines ;) Maybe she just meant show it to them :confused3

Isn't the discount supposed to open up to the public on the 26th? If so, then it shouldn't matter about it being Disney Visa or not.

yeah from what i read it is supposed to open on the 26th, i actually booked this before the ticket prices went up and last time i called (to add maxpass) they said that i would have to pay the increase in ticket prices so it kinda defeated the purpose.

In another thread we saved about $500 using the 10% off for GCH, any you do have to put your deposit and show them your catd when you check in, then they will put a hold for X dollars on the card for incidentals. Did this yesterday.

Jack

Sorry I wasnt clear, you have to use the card. We just use it and pay it off when we get home if there is any balance. I dont like the hold they put on.

I can confirm that they require the use of the Disney VISA card to pay the remainder of the balance. I've tried showing the card to receive discounts during past visits, they required me to use it to pay. Makes sense when you think about why they give discounts through card membership, they want you to use the card :)

If only making sense logic could always be counted on for their policies
