Agree. I’ve spent more time as a child and teenager at Disneyland. So it will always be my home. I went to WDW when I was 5 and 7, and I barely remember those trips. I went to WDW again earlier this year as an adult, and while it was amazing, I didn't get that sense of warmth I get when I go to DL.
We have a friend whose home park is TDL. She'd been to WDW several times, but then we took her to DLR for her first visit. At the end of her first day at DL, I asked her what she thought. (She'd been pretty quiet, which was rather unusual for her!) Her answer, with a huge smile after a weighted pause, "I love it. I feel Walt here." Yes, I think that sums it up for so many of us, too.
In hindsight, WDW is too much work.Disneyland is just so easy. When everything is back to normal someday, we may go back to WDW, but I think our hearts will forever belong to Disneyland and the west coast after the past 18 months here, even after we move back to Texas.
Now that WDW has stopped the FP+ advance reservations, this may be an opportunity to rethink the way that all works. As many have indicated, getting FP's the "day of" is so much more flexible. Some have pointed out that currently WDW feels a lot more like DL in that respect. Very little planning needed (well, you can't even do those advance things). I know there are some who really like getting up early 6 months in advance and booking FP's for 3 rides per day at specific time slots. They indicate that they like the reassurance that they will be able to ride those things at those times. For me that just seems too intense.
I hear you! I took the "Walk in Walt's footsteps" tour at Disneyland, and started crying when we were taken to his apartment.
Different topic - but worthy for WDW to explore. We like both ways. WDW is simply a different beast with lots of international and long term planning involved. 180 days for dining is a bit much though

We got that too when we went to DTD.
Well, you're doing better than Reno. Our rolling 14 day is 250.1. We don't have a positivity number and no specific metrics for opening/closing. Our schools open in 2 weeks with all elementary going full time. Middle and high school are 50/50. All casinos are open too. I wish Sisolek would set similar parameters. If Disneyland can't open with over 100 per 100K, we shouldn't even consider opening our schools. At least Disneyland is mostly outdoors and what is indoors can be either closed or closely monitored for capacity. I keep hoping it will be open for our October trip. Even though OBB is cancelled, that'll mean later hours for DCA. In the meantime, I know we are all watching WDW and their COVID numbers. It seems that there are no spikes due to their reopening. Kudos to the CMs who are enforcing masks and social distancing!
