Now that WDW has stopped the FP+ advance reservations, this may be an opportunity to rethink the way that all works. As many have indicated, getting FP's the "day of" is so much more flexible. Some have pointed out that currently WDW feels a lot more like DL in that respect. Very little planning needed (well, you can't even do those advance things). I know there are some who really like getting up early 6 months in advance and booking FP's for 3 rides per day at specific time slots. They indicate that they like the reassurance that they will be able to ride those things at those times. For me that just seems too intense.
The DL method of getting passes the day of is really simple. And I don't see why you would not be able to get the equivalent value out of that at WDW. Maybe it would need some tweaking to work well for everyone at WDW, but if there was ever a time to revamp the system, it is now.
