Just wondering does this run the entire time the park is open? and how long does it take to do a full trip around the park? and lastly how often are the trains?

Thanks :)

The trains start right around when the park opens and stop about an hour before closing (sometimes they stop during fireworks as well). The full loop takes about 20 minutes (give or take) and the trains run about every 15 minutes or so, depending on how busy the park is.

It runs the entire time the park is open. First train leaves Main Street Station at park opening and last one leaves at closing time. The number of trains running is 4 maximum and varies depending on crowds. They have 5 trains but the system can only handle about 4.

It takes about 5 minutes per station and is 20 minutes round trip.

It does not run during parades and sometimes fireworks, not ridden lately during those times but any CM on the platform will be able to explain.

Tender rides are available if the engineers allow them and are only on the two trains that Walt built. Check with the CM greeters. Two people, not too fat as we were squeezed tight and I got ouchies, sit in a seat behind the engineers and ride for 20 minute loop with them.

An additional note if you are interested in them....

The tender rides (affectionately known once as the "Hot Seat") are only available at the Main Street Station. You must ride the entire round trip and cannot get off at any other station. This is because the platforms do not safely extend far enough for guests to enter and exit the train. Only Cast Members are allowed onto that area of the platform at all the other stations.

That's good info about the "hot seat" ...Thanks

Also when we were at WDW...my son was able to ride on a seat at the back of the train....and say in to the microphone "all aboard" everytime the train let each station....does anyone know if you can do this at Disneyland?

This is important to know-DD9 and I did it last summer (boy it was hot! :sunny:) and about the time we hit the TT station, she said she had to go to the bathroom. I told her she had to wait, but it was a touch and go those last few minutes! :scared1: Needless to say we ran to the closest bathroom after getting off at MS. It was great though, and one of the engineers was very talkative.

He would not be allowed to talk in the microphone. He could do the tender ride. There is at times a caboose that is open to the public. There is the Lily Belle private car that is only available on tours which you can find a list under DL planning.

You have to sign up at Main Street station for the Hot Seat ride... I did it when I was a kid, it was super cool.
