Disneyland question

The price I got on the suite is $139.20 a night...worth it, or would you go for something on Priceline?

For a suite that is a good price. If you call in house reservations and talk to Loralee she will give you another 15% off if you tell them you are a DIS board member.:goodvibes

I wanted to second the idea of getting the So Cal Passes. They are great especially if you are going to San Diego....we bought ours through Costco.ca and the best part is that you can upgrade your 3 day Parkhopper passes at the front entrance for more days. For us we just paid about a little over a $100 more and got a deluxe annual pass. Now we are going back in August.

In January we stayed on site (GCH) and plan to do the same in our next trip since our kids loved the hotel so much. But last Easter we stayed off site at the Crown Plaza Resort and got a good rate through Priceline $60 a night. I used biddingfortravel.com for my info.

My kids are 4 and 3 and they love Disneyland...there's enough rides and characters to keep them entertained!

Like pp have said check out the Disneyland dis thread for all your info. I would even recommend taking out a guide book from the library ( or buying one) to assist you in planning your trip.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the tip on costco.ca...we were considering it, but do you think the city pass is a good option if you're not planning on going to Universal? We're going to do the Zoo, Sea World and Disneyland...but not Universal (the kids wouldn't like most of the rides--too scary for them!).

I have been checking out the Disneyland threads...just thought I'd stop by here being Canadian and all!! :)

I think if you don't go to Universal then pretty much you are even and don't save anything or the savings are minor. I'd recommend you forgo the passes if you don't plan to go there. We went and granted there aren't a lot of rides the kids could go on we did like the studio back lot tour, Shrek 4D and just hanging out side of universal where they have fun stores and resturants.

Definitely try Legoland in Carlsbad...on your way to San Diego. Your 4 year old will love it.

We bought our tickets at the gates (but one only did one DL day-just DL not CA because w ehad so many things we wanted to do in Cali). I did a lot of research before we went and found, for the attractions we wanted, it was cheaper to use promo codes for tickets. There are more DL tix deals online on the DL website than you'd expect. Ares travel often has deals on tickets. We used Ares to book our San Diego hotel and we had no problems.

I will ask dh what he used for the SW tix because we got a heck of a deal on those. Also, the zoo often has promotions like kids get in free with adult passes. Check on their website.

Just wanted to say....I'm so jealous!!! We just did this trip in November and I absolutely loved California. I hope you do, too.

PS: We stayed at Staybridge Suites in Anaheim which we really liked. It wasn't walking distance but was very close. We stayed at BW Island Palms in San Diego.

ARES travel is who mousesavers reccomends, and I totally agree! You can also get vouchers for character meals from them, that save you a few dollars. (You prepay and just give the voucher when you pay.... it includes the tip, and is less than the actual buffet cost if you just paid at the restaurant.)

Everything is sent electronically, so you save money with no shipping too!

As a side note, only use Priceline (name your own price) if you don't mind being in Garden Grove. A lot of hotels that accept Priceline bids are in Garden Grove and are not walking distance to the DL front gate (such as Crowne Plaza and the Hyatt), while some are a distant walk to the DL front gate (such as Marriott and Hilton). With a 4-year-old in tow, you may want to consider that. But if you have access to a car or take the ART, that may not be an issue.

Now I'm getting excited!!

I think we're going to stick with Hojo because we have a kids suite...it gets great reviews...and we can walk to the park from the hotel. Has anyone on here stayed there? It's not cheap at $139 a night, but it's less than we thought we'd pay for a hotel.

I think for San Diego we're going to try Priceline...just not sure what area we want to stay in. We'll have a car when we're there so it might not matter so much.

We're all excited for Legoland...my daughter just turned 7 and is a huge lego fan, and our son (4) is getting into it now too. They are opening a water park there in June so I think the plan will be to spend one day at the water park and one day at the regular park. Then one day at sea world and one day at the Zoo...so 4 days total in San Diego.

:)

By the way...if I thought I could bid on Priceline and get the hyatt then I'd do that--it looks awesome since the renovation!

I am a HAPPY GIRL!

One day sale today through Air Canada...

Winnipeg to SNA-Orange County (Anaheim) for...

$1540 taxes and fees included

For all 4 of us!

This is $1300 cheaper then we almost booked for yesterday...gotta love Olympic deals--how random that it was exactly the destination we needed?

Leaving July 27th, can't wait!
