I posted this on another forum not realizing it was for WDW.

She knows the proposal is coming, so I want to do something that will still give her that wow feeling.

I am in Iraq right now, I'll be home for leave in February. I want to fly her to Disneyland and propose to her. I am thinking maybe the Blue Bayou since she really loves it.

Any ideas on what would make it special? Who would I contact to arrange this?

Thanks,
Dustin

Can't help you with your plans but just wanted to say an early congratulations!

Dustin - your idea to propose at DL is really romantic. I'm sure everyone on the boards will have a host of ideas.

I've never been to Blue Bayou, but it sounds great. There have been good reviews for Napa Rose too which from what I have read seems to be more of an adult focused restaurant.

A proposal in front of the castle with the fireworks sounds romantic to me!

Why don't you contact Disneyland's guest relations and see if they can help too.

Congratulations and good luck! :goodvibes

I have no idea if you could do this at any of the restaurants at DLR, but my DH proposed to me on a menu. It was under the description for creme bruhlee. He called the manager of the restaurant and since they printed up new menus daily, they did it for him. :goodvibes

My two DS17s happen to stumble upon a couple just enganged at DL. They were looking in the New Orleans area for a bathroom and walked in to that small courtyard that is usually empty- with the stairs going up. He had just proposed and they asked my boys to take a picture of them. :)
I don't know if guest relations would have any help or suggestions for you or not.

Good luck and let us know what finally happens!

The menu idea sounds great! My hubby actually proposed in front of the castle and there were the photographers there so we got pictures of the whole thing.. even though I knew the proposal was coming it still wowed me having him propose at DL... :goodvibes

PS he didn't plan anything with the photographers before hand we just walked in front of the castle and there they were.. We were going to pose for a picture and he was like hold on a minute and got down on his knee.. =)

DEFINATELY contact Disney guest relations - they will LOVE this and I bet will go way out of their way to help you out!

Don't hesitate!

Someone have their number??

Congratulations in advance and thank you for serving and protecting. I think your idea is fantastic and your girlfriend is pretty lucky! All of the ideas are great and if you go w/ Blue Bayou, I'm sure they wlll make it special (ask for a table near the water). An idea: a scavenger hunt. If guest relations would plant the hints for you (I bet they would) you could really make her "work for it" and end up at a romantic dinner to "pop the question". As for romantic spots. Blue Bayou- yes! Napa Rose is lovely. After dark, there is a patio area with a fire pit out back where you can have a drink.... I'm sure the castmembers will love celebrating with you and making this special. Have fun planning.

Congratulations!!

I have another idea. Maybe you can have her go to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and have her hair done with a tiara. If you get the photo package, there is a Cinderella coach with a castle in the background where they take very nice pictures. Best thing is that you don't have the crowds behind and around you in the photo since it is a studio.

congratulations!!!!! How fun! My BFF was proposed to at Snow White's Wishing Well, I've heard of a lot of proposals in front of the castle and I personally would love to be proposed to on the Story Book Canal ride. :) I want our boat to stop under the arches at night when they are all lit up and have DBF propose there. :) I think that would be so romantic. BB would be GREAT!!!!! I think you should call Guest Relations and let them know what you're planning, they would love to help you!

Thank you for the sacrifices you've made for the USA while in Iraq.

What an exciting thing to plan for your return. I would contact Disneyland 714-781-4000. Ask for Guest Relations. Let them know you have been serving in Iraq, that you will be coming to DLR on your leave, and your plan to propose. Tell them that the Blue Bayou is special for you both and was hoping they could help you do something special.

The worst thing they can say is that you're on your own, right? Then you come back to us and we help you dream up something magical! :wizard:

some red roses and a glass of champagne with the ring in it as you are eating.. have the waiter bring it to her and has she looks at the waiter in surprise like "i didnt order that" quickly get on your knees....

or, while your on the ride for big thunder mountain have the cast member do an announcement, and let them give you the chance to speak your proposal over the microphone for all to hear and her also!

or.. ask for one of those "just engaged" buttons and when your girls starts to be like "what the heck", go "oh yeah" and get on your knee and propose!

I wonder if they would let you do it at the Flag retreat ceremony. It's such an emotional time and it would be nice to be around those who give to our Country.

It's such a beautiful setting and its small and intimate and not so busy around.

Then you can go to City Hall and get your Just engaged buttons and go to the hat store right across and buy bride and groom ears for practice!!

Congrats!

I saw this for the first time last May and it is beautiful and not too crowded. It is a fitting tribute to all our military. The perfect setting for you and your Bride to Be! We are a Navy Reserve family and I want to say Thank You to you for serving!

Good Luck!

MAN!~ i wish i had a man.... this is soo romantic.. an yes i love my button idea.

I've recently been looking into proposals at DL for someone I know.

They are fairly common and unless the fact you are in the military changes things Guest Realtions does nothing more than give you tips on where in the park others have popped the question.

If you go with SW Wishing Well or in front of the Castle if you just say to a photo pass photog "castle" or "wishing well" they will know what is about to happen and will follow you to capture the event. They also said many have the artists in NOS do a picture of the couple (without the bride to be seeing the picture) with the man proposing on one knee and then show it to the bride to be.

They no longer have *just engaged* buttons but do have *happily ever after* buttons that they hand out for the just engaged.

I think there are some engagement packages through VP but they are fairly expensive, I beleive $300 and up, and are delievered to one's hotel and never to the couple at DL.

Hopefull others will have some great ideas to share!!!

Did they just discontinue the just engaged buttons? I saw people wearing them on our last trip in June. The happily ever after buttons are cure too!

I saw the just engaged buttons this year too.....of course it was in January but I did see them. :)

I like Funball's idea but if you're eating at the BB that won't work, the only place to get alcohol in DL is Club 33. That would work if you do it off-site at a restaurant or over in DCA at the Wine Country Trattatoria, there is alcohol in DCA. :)
