WDW vet trying to adjust expections for DL, so.....

1. Is there a list of the photopass effects for DL? Stitch's Kingdom only lists WDW effects.

2. Epcot has. at the end of Journey Into Your Imagination ride. an area to play with sound, photos, etc... In one area, you select the background and your photo is taken on green screen then digitally inserted into the selected background. Is there anything like that in DL?

Hello!

Well, first I would suggest that you check out our dedicated PhotoPass thread ("Photopass Poses: the Cheesier the Better". Even though the entire thread is great fun to look through, I recommend that you start on the last page of the thread and work your way backward. The reason for this is that you will see some of the most recent DLR photo enhancements/borders/magic shots/effects in the more recent posts, whereas if you start at the beginning of the thread, you may spot some magic shots that are no longer available at DLR. But it's a great thread, and you will see the variety of magic shots and borders from 'regular' DLR times of year and from the holidays. Here is the link to the thread:

In addition to that, there was a Photopass-related thread quite a while back that had a rather comprehensive list (put together by one of our DIS-ers) of all the different locations for PhotoPass photographers. I will attempt to find that thread and dig it up for you (it's in my subscribed threads somewhere). But keep in mind, since all the work has begun on the big California Adventure makeover, some of the PhotoPass locations listed in that thread are no longer available.

Here is the thread to which I was referring - see Post #1 for a comprehensive list:

...Although, again, some of these locations or enhancements are no longer available or they are not available year-round (for example, I think the Captain Hook enhancement has been discontinued, and the Haunted Mansion-Hitchhiking Ghosts enhancement is only done at certain times of year, and not during Halloweentime).

The link that 3Minnies1Mickey posted is good too - I just don't seem to know of any totally current, up-to-date list of PhotoPass locations, as things are changing all the time with all the work at DCA. Sometimes they even do impromptu locations - or spontaneous poses - that may only happen for a brief time.

I agree. Every time we are there we get something different. A lot depends on the CMs too. I can get some CMs to take a lot of pictures with effects and poses, while others take the standard 2 (one vertical, one horizontal) and send us on our way....

Oh, so you get the vertical/horizontal double whammy of pictures?:rotfl2: I get the light/dark combo!:rotfl2: I always get someone who takes one photo with no flash or bad lighting (the too-dark version) and one version that is well lit - sometimes to the point of washing us out! A lot of the photographers cannot master the light settings on their Nikons. I was so pleased with my Winter Castle nighttime photo this past December. I wanted to get a Winter Castle night shot in 12/08, but the very second I got up to the PP photographer, the stupid icicle lights on the Castle turned off and it went to its regular, non-icicle Winter Castle version! I was so mad. I wanted the icicles because that sparkle makes the whole backdrop magical. So finally, this past December, we were getting ready to leave DL and I made my friends stop so we could get a "real" Winter castle shot - icicle lights and all. I wasn't sure how it would turn out because we were all super-tired and I was certain we would look a mess. I assumed that the photographer wouldn't get the lighting right and we would end up blurry or we would be too washed out, but I wanted to try. It came out perfect! People were grumbling because this photographer was taking his sweet time with each group of people and holding the line up, but it was well worth it because I see he was trying to get perfect shots for everyone - and he knew what he was doing! I would rather take more time or wait a little longer to get my photos done than have photos that don't come out well!

Thank you for all the imput. Looking at the photo link on the DL community board triggered my questions.
