Disneyland Pet Peeves!

Heh heh,

Vent thread, good times.

1. Flash pictures on dark rides - oh look, you got a crappy picture and ruined everyone's dark vision, aren't you special?

2. Screamers while passing Blue Bayou - show some respect.

3. People that come to a dead stop in an open walkway - step to the side or be pushed aside.

4. Strollers hitting my ankles - learn to use it or stay home.

5. Pushing in front of me after I waited 30 minutes for the parade/fireworks/Fantasmic - our entitlement culture at work.

Be polite and we'll get along just fine! ;)

My biggest pet peeve....Mom's or Dad's on their bluetooth talking away to other people and their kids are with them begging for mom or dad's attention....this really gets me going. You are at Disneyland...get off the phone and enjoy your kids and this magical place!

I hear you, but I work from home, and I HAVE to be available when called. (I have a full-time job for a software company, but I just work out of my kitchen rather than an office.) My answering the phone (or responding to email while in lines) enables me and my son to be at DL or WDW, so it's just the way things are, unfortunately. Luckily, my son understands the importance of "work calls" and backs off when needed.

so i have a couple more to add, since my last visit:
Over weight people that are not disabled but ride in motorized cart things, and people that cut in line while waiting for the A.R.T bus just because the bus didnt pull up to where the line is formed.

i seriously watched to mothers holding infants start cursing and fighting over who should get on the bus first because of where i parked, i think if the bus doesnt park right in front of where the obvious line is formed the driver should escort the people in line to the door of the bus OR be smart and stop where the line is formed!!!:headache:

I especially agree with flash pictures in the dark and/or at night. It truly makes me feel either bad for them because nothing will come out or I'm just mad that they can't follow the rules.

Another one of my pet peeves is people who rent motorized wheelchairs and DO NOT need them.
1. People who need them, won't get them.
2. You are wasting other's time while scooting along.

I can respect that you work from home, I work full-time as well. However, on my vacation I really don't want to hear others on the phone with a client or on a conference call while I am standing in line for an attraction at Disneyland.

Most of time I have seen this happen the mom or dad is blantantly ignoring their children. While your son may understand these calls, it is obvious that other childern do not.

How do you know they don't need them? My DBF looks "normal" and he can even walk for the better part of the day but if he doesn't get in a wheel chair he will be in very bad pain by the end of the day with his knee very swollen. We usually get a wheel chair in the begining of the day to ensure we have one avaliable for him in the later afternoon even though he may just be pushing it in the morning.

Yeah, it's totally another level when the parents are on the phone for a business call on vacation with their children obviously needing & wanting their attention. If their cool with it I usually don't see an issue.

But what bugs me is the people who don't get off the phone and then try to get on the ride! Or not even that, but my last trip I was sitting down ready to watch the Enchanted Tiki Room but some woman had her wheelchair parked so that it was blocking the exit doors and the CM couldn't close them to get the attraction started. To top it all off she was on her cell phone and held up her hand to the CM who asked her to move kind of like "go away".

Everyone in the room was just shocked! Especially because when she finally moved, she came inside and stayed on the phone. At that point everyone in the room yelled at her to get off the phone.

*staring at my screen with disgust*
:sad2:

omg bella!! Yea,, I can see how that is kinda rude! WOW. Some people .. you know?! :sad2: :rolleyes1

I just thought of a new pet peeve today, it has to do with my co-worker who went to Disneyland…

Ok she asked me about Disneyland during the week, I told her that it’s summer therefore no such thing as NOT too busy. Well sure enough I was right! They went on a Wednesday and it was BUSY –well there minds it was. Anyhow I asked how come they didn’t do fast pass like I suggested and she said “cause my girls don’t like to wait to long in lines” …and then she tells me that the lines were soo long—at this point then she is telling the other co-workers that Disneyland was way to busy during the week (but its summer I reminded her) and of course I told her that it’s summer, it’s going to be a bit busy, I told her to use FP and stuff…she and her family did not utilize the time they had correctly and that is why she was kinda turned off by her whole trip( well and she told me), and being that i do the maps, i did give them a set to help plan.. :sad2:

My biggest pet peeve has to be the way I see adults treat kids. I have seen parents yell at kids in horrible ways as well as strangers elbow my dd in the face in an effort "to get ahead" of her and I. :sad2:

I also second the stroller (or wheelchair or ECV for that matter) running over my feet. I am not going to cut you off, stop in front of you or in truth get my feet anywhere near you if I can avoid it so please don't think its okay to run over my feet!

Trust me, when you think you are "whispering" during a show, *I* can hear you loud and clear!! It bugs me big time when people think they are whispering their commentary back and forth to each other, but the fact of the matter is, I can hear everything you are saying and it is rude. I am there trying to watch the show and listen, but I can't because I keep hearing you "whisper" to your friend/family member.

Please believe me: If you open your mouth, I CAN HEAR YOU!!

Thank you, I have wanted to get that off my chest for a while now.:thumbsup2

I agree with a ton of these! I'm not sure if it's been said, but how about those who run in front of you and cut you off when they see you're headed for the same ride? Ridiculous.

.. For me has to also be the inconsiderate teenagers… the making out in line. I just thought of that one now! It’s disgusting to see and it not appropriate for a 4 years and up to see also, there is a time and place for everything, Disneyland is not the place to play tonsil hockey.. :sad2:

and i get totally get the whole ECV thing... i hate the stroller's also!

Ooh ohh you all are going to love this one… :lmao:

Saturday at the park (DCA) I heard a lady TELL her kid that the Grizzly bear Rock thing is matterhorn. Yep.. this is how it went down “ hey _____(kids name wont say) see that rock thing right there, that’s matterhorn”

And so that is the other thing, when other park guests get points of interest at DLR wrong!!:scared1:

OK I hate the make out scenes too, really, if you can't take being that close then just go back to your room....my kids (nor myself) want to see you behaving that way.

I'm LOL at the lady saying GRR was Matterhorn....seriously lady? LOL that's hilarious.....in that situation I walk by and very loudly say "hey guys look, it's the GRR" LOL :)

..well and i just wanted to swing around and give her a map..so she could see that it WAS not matterhorn..cause i had the maps at that moment in my hand that i was getting for the disers this week...i hope her kid wasn't soo confused..how can you mix that one up!! i just don't get it..

What a GREAT THREAD!

Agree with all of these...experienced the flash and talkers on POC in June. Ended up with "private" boat after saying something to CM who were wonderful (no one in boats in front of us or behind us).

Strollers...they are great but don't walk up my leg. Also on this is KIDS WHO ARE TOO OLD TO RIDE IN THEM...sorry 5, 6,7 year old kids need to learn to walk distances. When we did Disney World a couple years ago we spent all summer walking daily to get in condition. Fun times and memories of chats with my boys and hubby on what we would do. Never a complaint from them. Sorry if it is offensive but there is a time to stop 'babying' kids and letting them ride in strollers cause they "get too tired at age 5, 6,7 and older to walk! I understand if it is for medical reasons.

The "I am too special" to wait in line, sit for a parade, Fantasmic or WOC. Why should we sit there for an hour and then have you come and think we should move over or squeeze together at the last minute. DON'T even come stand in front of me during fireworks (this was at Disney World) after we sat in front of castle for almost an hour. Hit the guy on the leg and told him he was blocking my view...he complains to wife loudly and moves. Someone else does same thing and he huffs off. Sorry don't come once started and expect to stand in front of me and my children.

Stoppers in the middle of walkways, people not keeping up with the lines, people walking 5-6 wide at a slow slow pace, inappropriate outfits (keep chests covered, butt cheeks covered and extra rolls of skin covered---look at self in mirror before leaving), smelly people (understand some it is cultural thing but for most it is pure laziness), spitting on ground, not flushing toilets in bathroom and not washing hands before leaving. Changing diapers out in public places on a bench.

Know we are not perfect by any means but there are some strange happenings at Disney! LOVE to watch the people though and wonder what their "normal" life is like.
