Welcome Home everyone.

We joined DVC whilst in Disneyworld Florida in June.

We are one of the (I think) rare UK members and so getting to USA regularly is expensive. As such, we want to visit Disneyland Paris for Xmas (we paid to go last year and the kids loved it).

Trouble is that because DLP is it's "own boss" they have not yet released Xmas dates to DVC member services for us to book and we are worried that we may miss out on travel or even the rooms themselves.

We ring Member services in USA every week and ask if they are online and 10 weeks later they still are not available.

The annoying thing is that DVC won't even ring DLP and ask them when the dates will be available.

It is getting very frustrating. Has anyone else had similar issues with dates not being published until very late?

:confused3

Welcome to the DIS Dawsoda :)

I believe the UK is something like the 3rd highest demographic to buy into dvc? I'm sure someone will correct me, but regardless - there are lots and lots of us Brits who were lucky enough to 'hear the secret' ;)

You might also have some luck with this question over on the UK DVC Board or possibly even the DLRP Board where you might find some people who have experienced a similar situation in the past.

Good luck! :)

Edit: Ah see you actually found the DLRP forum already :)

Remember that DLP required DVC members to purchase a length of stay pass at the time of booking. Now while you in the UK are more local, it may not make as much difference to you. But for US travelers, who may want to use DLP as a base totour the Paris area, it is a problem. So if you want to see other parts of Paris during your visit, a DVC reservation at DLP may not be the best way to do that.

If you visit is for DLP only, then it would work out fine. But then again, I wonder if it would involve several currency exchange problems, since it is booked through DVC? I mean, it may exchange Francs or Euros to US$, then back to Euros for your credit card billing. Plus the $95 exchange fee, it may save considerable money for you to in the UK to simply book directly with DLP on cash.

OP makes reference to the cost of getting to the US - this year (and so far early prices for next year) flights are nothing short of insane! So this may be just a way of him trying to find a way to burn some of his points rather than looking for the best value.

Otherwise I agree - generally there are usually good packages on offer in the UK for DLRP which are more cost effective than exchanging points.

As part of our sign-up we were given "free" 2009 points which we have banked already and now need to use up. Hence DLRP seemed a good idea as we enjoyed Xmas there last year.

Will just have to keep ringing them!

Well, I rang again today to try and make my 3rd week in November booking, still nothing.

I, also, have banked points that I need to use up. I have been trying to make my reservation for over 3 months, but it all depends on how well the dates are selling for DLP themselves, as to how many rooms they give to DVC.

I'm not sure how much longer I will keep trying to be honest, as I need to book the travel side of things before prices go silly.

While dawsoda does not have enough time on our boards, nor enough posts, to offer the points for rent here onthe DIS, you may want to try renting your points to friends or using a service like the Rent/Trade board sponsor offers, then using the cash to book DLP.

Thanks Chuck, I have started to think that that might be the best option, but DH has his mind set on staying at the Disneyland Hotel. To book it for cash is stupid money, and the points requirement goes up heavily next year, so it seems to be now or never.:confused3
