Disneyland Paris - worth it over a day in Paris?

This is probably the wrong place to be asking this, a website of #1 Disney fans! We will be in Paris for 5 days (first day will be recovering from jet lag). We have a DD almost 8. I thought a day at DLP would be a nice treat for her, plus she's at such a great age for Disney; Paris will always be there, but she will never be 8 at DLP again. But a huge part of me is saying no, we should be enjoying Paris, not going to an American theme park (albeit different, I'm sure). Thoughts?

If so is say take a day out for DLRP.

When we finally get to Hong Kong or Tokyo no way am I not visiting the Disney parks! My friend once said to me that it's impossible for him to visit a city that has a Disney park and not visit it. And I agree. If you're going to be this close already and you'll still get to see some of Paris, then definitely see DLRP too.

I think as you're there for a few days it would be a nice break from Paris 'grown up' sight seeing for her. But as you said you probably are asking in the wrong place!

you're in Paris and what else is in Paris .. disneyland and mickey mouse! do it my friend, take a day out of the all the hustle and bustle of Paris and take your daughter to see Mickey your daughter will LOVE it -- and the smile on her face will be priceless

You have only 4 full days in Paris ? What are you planning on seeing while you are there are when are you coming as this could decide my response

4 Days in Paris is still a very short stay to see everything, so you'll have to pick what you'll see even not going to DLP.
DLP is a wonderful destination, and now there's Dreams (the nighttime show) that's wonderful.
As others suggested, make a list of what you would like to see while in Paris and then give a priority to every item of your list, you'll have to choose DLP over other things, so be sure to not regret the exchange.

For your "recovery day" you might choose a relaxing destination like the gardens of Luxemburg, it's a public park and if the weather is good is really nice to just stay there and relax.

If I was an 8 year old and my parents took me to Paris and didn't take me to Disneyland while we were there I don't think I would ever forgive them

Trailing around cities is fab for adults but can be very boring for 8 years olds at times (I've got a 10 and a 8 year old!), so give her a day for herself and you'll enjoy it too I'm sure

Just seen on the other post you are going in July, that Thursday isn't the 14th is it ?

If it is go on the Wednesday or the Tuesday but avoid that Thursday at all cost ..if it isn't the 14th just ignore me

Any day in the week will be the same as another as it is school hols as I said on the other post and it will get busier at the weekend due to the locals visiting as well.

I 2nd the Luxembourg gardens which is a great park and if you want one a bit more local and bit further out (but still in Paris) you have the Buttes Chaumont which is really nice too

Last year we did some camping in France, 3 days at Disney and 7 in Paris with a 6 and 4 yo. Paris was the least liked by the kids, especially the 6 yo DD. DS loved the trains and putting his ticket in the barriers. All kids are different and a lot of it for DD was having no other kids to play with.

Hopefully it will be of some help. DLRP has a lot of differences from the American Parks and is worth a visit.

That's a bummer that you don't get the bank holiday shifted.

We never do.. if a bank holiday falls on a weekend it's just tough luck..hard ones are like when Christmas day falls on a Sunday and you have to go back to work on a Monday (as Boxing day is just another day here)

Bear in mind though the French get 13 bank holidays as opposed to only eight usually in England (nine this year with the Jubilee)

How do you get 13 ?

I get 11 and the only one of them that is obligatory for an employeur is the 1st of May

1/1 - 1/5 - 8/5 - 14/7 - 15/8 - 1/11 - 11/11 - 25/12

Easter Monday, Thursday Ascension, Pentecote Monday
