I'm about to book 2 days in eurodisney for next weekend, having done wdw for the first time last June. Am I going to be massively disappointed? I figure 2 days will be more than enough and not spoil the magic...

Do you mean the weekend of the 3rd-4th? Not been to WDW but Disney next weekend is likely to be busy as it's bank holiday and weekends are usually busy over there. So just giving you a heads up you may struggle to get stuff done.

I really like Disney Paris been about 7 times and been to WDW 3 times. As long as you remember they are different places you shouldn't be disappointed. Don't compare them just take Paris for what it is. It's much smaller and people don't queue quite so well there isn't as much choice for food but the rides are just as good. I prefer Space Mountain in Paris, Crushes Coater, parachute drop and slinky are great and not in WDW, you won't have to find your spot for the parade hours early (although if it's bank holiday weekend it will be busy). Just go and have a frantic time xx

Do not compare the two. They are completely different

Okay, I'm not looking to disparage one, but I do need to compare because I'm a WDW maven travelling with a DL maven, and we need to know what is not to be missed at DLP and what is just the same or not worth it on a short visit. Is there a thread somewhere that does that, like Hydroguy does for DL?

Thanks!

I've been to DLP twice and WDW twice. I actually just got back from a DLP trip on Sunday and had an awesome time, it really gets you in the Disney mood.

A few things we noticed which are different from WDW:

- Crew members (although helpful) are nowhere near as friendly as their counterparts in WDW, perhaps the fact English isn't their native language was a factor.

- The resort needs updating, some parts feel a little run down and could do with a lick of paint (doesn't really ruin the magic though).

- I only saw Mickey Mouse in a character meet and great one, and that was at our hotel (Sequoia Lodge) in the morning.

I've actually got another break booked for September for my girlfriend's 21st and I've just booked our very first trip to California for my 21st (something to cross off the bucket list!).

Have an awesome time :)

I first visited DLP after visiting WDW, and I have to admit, I was disappointed. The place is very different and it's hard to ignore the weather!

BUT, on my 2nd and 3rd visits, I really enjoyed it (and I clearly saw enough potential on the 1st visit that I wanted to return!).

I've got a 4th trip coming up now (in a couple of months' time - I'm doing WDW again next month). Some might say 4 DLP trips in 2014 is excessive...

As others have said, don't let yourself do a direct comparison. I'd also add:
  • Don't expect everything to be in English
  • Don't waste too much time walking around Walt Disney Studios (the attractions and shows are all fantastic, and some of the best Disney have to offer worldwide, but the atmosphere and park ambience is lacking). On the other hand, feel free to dawdle in the Disneyland park - there are fewer rides, and the atmosphere is fantastic (better than WDW in my opinion).
  • Most importantly, before asking your question to any cast member, say "Bonjour". In France it's considered extremely rude to talk to someone without saying 'Hello' first. In the rest of France, you'll get "called up" for not following this rule. I'm sure they're used to it in DLP due to the level of tourists, but by following this simple rule you'll certainly make yourself stand out positively and I've always been treated with the utmost kindness and warmth by all DLP cast members.

Been to both and love them both for different reasons. I'll try and compare some of the attractions for you.
Big thunder mountain - much better in Paris - it goes under the river first!
Phantom Manor - different story to Haunted Mansion, spookier but less high tech
Pirates of the carribean - No Jack Sparrow, but the ride is longer and more intense
Fantasyland rides are pretty similar
Space Mountain - Inversion coaster very intense - can bang your head a bit
Star Tours - old version
Buzz is the same

There are different attractions in the Studios - Crush's Coaster and Toy Story Playland well worth a visit.
Tower of Terror - no forward ride into twighlight zone, but very intense
Rock n Roller - Similar with different storyline at the beginning

Dreams is amazing - A must see!

If staying on site it is great to be able to walk from hotels through the village to the parks, everything is really close.
Restaurants - not as well themed and service is much slower, but still some nice choices

I'm sure with a bit of planning and taking advantage of Extra Magic hours if you can you'll have a great time! :thumbsup2
