Before you all tell me it's a terrible use of points, I am aware...

I'm planning a trip in Europe in May 2012 and want 2 nights at DLP. Member Services tells me that there are no reservations yet open for folks in the US, even booking with points...

Is there any idea when these points might become available for us to book? It's very odd...

I've heard others saying they have problems getting in to DLP using their points.

I just looked it up in the Vacation Planner and it says:

Members can make reservations 6 months to 14 days in advance of their requested check-in date. Some resorts may not be available for booking at the 11 month window.

I have to admit that the last sentence doesn't really make sense, since you can only make a reservation 6 months out.

It looks like you'll need to wait until December to make a May reservation for DLP. Good luck getting the hotel you want!

What is weird is that if you go to the UK Disneyland PAris site, hotels are available to book through 2012... If you go through the US version of the site, you can only book a room through the end of March 2012...

It's like they don't want us to come... LOL

What you can see on the the site is not points reservations so that is not relevant at all.

Oh I am aware of that but I just found that quirk of their reservation system very odd...

I used points to stay 3 nights at Newport Bay Club at DLP last summer, and got reservations no problem about 3 weeks out. It was over a weekend in July, so I'm not sure how hard it is to get reservations there in general. When you book through DVC you have to buy the park tickets over the phone (I think the hotels at DLP require you to buy park passes if you are staying onsite) so that's something to be aware of. The whole experience was totally awesome and though it wasn't a great use of points, I wouldn't have been able to afford the trip otherwise. Good luck!!

Disney doesn't really operate DLP and it's owned by a French corporation. So it's their decision on things are set up.

You'd think they'd want the rooms booked and the sooner the better though. I have to admit that it seems strange to me to have availability dates to be different.

Just to clarify this: DLP is owned by Euro Disney SCA - a limited partnership with shares. TWDC is still the largest shareholder of Euro Disney SCA. And TWDC is also the sole owner of the managing company of Euro Disney SCA, i.e. the entity which makes all the decisions on how to run DLP. Disney does appoint the people who are in charge of DLP in the end. Karl Holtz of DCL for example used to be responsible for DLP before he moved to DCL.

To the OP: It seems like for the British tourism market it is very important to come out with packages as early as possible, that's why the people in the UK are able to book already. The German website only has the packages up to March 2012 as well. However, the rest of 2012 should become available soon for cash bookings.

Just following up on this one... We are now 4 months out from my trip and DLP is still not avaialble to DVC members for booking even though the US brochure became avaialble just last week for booking...

Playing a very difficult waiting game and calling MS every day... This is the only piece of my trip not in place yet...

BTW, the cost differential for what I am trying to book... 2 Nights, DL Hotel, 116 points + $400 (tickets + $95 exchange fee) versus the 'package rate' of $1,400...

To me, worth my points.

Apart from being a bad use of points, in my opinion, it's a bad use of any money to stay at the DLP resorts. Even the chairman of EuroDisney SCA admits that the hotels are in dire need of a fresh-up. The last major renovation has been done 18 years ago, while the average, comparable hotel in Paris has a renovation done every 3 years!

I'd rather recommend one of the partner hotels nearby like the Magic Circus Hotel or the Dream Castle. If themeing isn't that important to you, I can also recommend my personal favorite, the Ibis hotel in Val d'Europe, great rates, very clean, good breakfast and excellent location, just steps from the RER station which takes you to the parks in less than 5 min. or to the center of Paris in about 40 min.!

What are those hotels' room rate may I ask? :surfweb:

They vary depending on the seasons of course, but here are the websites of the hotels:

http://www.magiccircus-hotel.com/en/home/

http://www.dreamcastle-hotel.com/en/home/

http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-5646-ibis-marne-la-vallee-val-d-europe/index.shtml

Rates at the Ibis start at €65, but their rooms only accomodate 2 adults max.

If you check Tripadvisor and other travel websites, you might find cheaper rates than from the official hotel websites.

BTW, both Magic Circus and Dream Castle have pretty good ratings from guests on Tripadvisor.

When we wntr in 2008, it seemed like a good use of points with what the Euro was doing. That could be completely different now, with the Euro poised to fall!

In any case, I would not worry too much about not having availability. They did overbuilt DLP, so the hotels far outweigh the demand. I'm sure some do fill at certain times, but with the whole resort a 45 minute commuter train ride from the heart of Paris, they really have too many rooms!

It's as if there were a direct cheap train from LA to Disneylandin Anaheim and they still built the equivalent of Grand Floridian, Disneyland Hotel, Yact Club, Wilderness Lodge and All Stars! That is probably an exageration in terms of actual hotel rooms, but the point is supply outstrips demand there pretty much!

We thoughly enjoyed Hotel New York, and having the vast Fantasyland basically to ourselves in the morning with the early entry was very nice.

I would book something at the Disney Village myself now and then cancel when the DLP hotels with points come online.

BTW, MS can also book you the Buffalo Bill Wild West show - we really enjoyed that. It's 70% Medieval Times and 30% a pretty good historical recreation.

I've only got 2 nights in between a stay in PAris and London... And I have a lot of banked points to burn so that's why I'm using my points there...

I still will have plenty to bank for Tokyo Disney next year... Or as I call it: The Main Event...

But the DLH is *IN* the park! Location, location, location.

Not really in the park, more like above the ticket booths and turnstiles.

If you stay in a castle club room (their name for concierge level) you get to take an elevator right down into the ticket hall, but in all the other rooms, you'll have to walk at least the half lenght of the building to get to the entrance.
