We are Carnation Cafe lovers which is not currently open anyway. We are doing our first stay on property and are looking for outdoor dining options. We need Downtown Disney options because we are Washington State residents. Where should I book outdoor dining for an anniversary date dinner? We are staying at Grand Californian. It will be first DVC stay at our home resort.

If Catal have space in their outdoor balcony, that'll be a decent place for an anniversary date dinner - though be warned, they're not cheap but the food, service and atmosphere is fantastic. They are in Downtown Disney, not too far from the big World of Disney store. Best to get a reservation in advance though - they are popular.

I’m going to start setting up reservations. We are 68 days out from our stay.

Catal and Ralph Brennans have balcony dining. Uva is outside, as is Naples and Tortilla Jo's. We have only dined outside, and while we are vaccinated, we are still a little hesitant to head indoors, based on our own home town's view of this (nothing ever shut down here...) Another good choice for dinner, a 5 min walk off site that has outdoor dining is Flemings. Napa Rose does not have outside dining.

Whoa, Flemings. Interesting idea and that's a nice easy walk from GCH/VGC. Any personal reviews yet? It's inside the new Westin, correct?

Almost all the Downtown Disney sit down restaurants are currently offering outdoor dining. We love Naples, but for a special occasion, Catal is a good option. They have VERY limited outdoor tables, but the inside dining room is quite large and I expect them to adequately space apart tables in there.

I'd eat at Napa Rose all day every day over Fleming's. Fleming's are located all over. They aren't super special. I prefer Morton's and Ruth's Chris to Flemings, and there are 2 of those nearby, but I don't think they offer outdoor seating.

In your situation, for a special occasion, I'd choose Napa Rose for sure. They DO have an outdoor patio there and I suspect they will be using it when they reopen. They typically reserve it for private parties.

We loved Flemings. We also love Mortons. For us, food and drinks are both fantastic. Difference, outside at Morton's outside, you are sitting in a parking lot. At Flemings you are on the front patio looking at the back of DCA and Katella lighting up. Another difference, we can do 3-4 courses in 2.5 hours at Flemings, whereas at Morton's it was usually 3.5-5 hours. You could say it was either slower service or more laid back service. We were dining at Morton's most trips since last summer. We've only done Flemings twice since they opened in April, but have really liked it. Also, Flemings is a quick walk from the Grand. Morton's is an uber ride.

Happy Anniversary! If you are staying at GCH you need to for sure try to get a reservation for Napa Rose for your special date. They will treat you like royalty there. Love that staff so much. Others have suggested Catal as well. Love the second story there, as it overlooks DTD and they have a pretty bar as well. I love their menu too. It's a Patina Group restaurant, so lot's of fresh flavors.
