We just booked our first DL vacation for spring break. (March 17-23) Since Easter is early this year (March 31), I am thinking that a lot of schools will have their spring break during the couple of weeks after our trip. Is that a reasonable guess?

I know that I am way overthinking things, but I am a 'nazi planner' for WDW according to my DH. Since DL is uncharted territory for me, I want to know what I'm getting into. Thanks!

We are not in the American school system so I can't speak for the dates of their spring breaks, but we've taken two trips in March/early April.

The first one we were there at the very end of March, right after, apparently, the great majority of schools had spring break. It was awesome. You could fire a canon down the streets. I took several different pictures at different times of day where there were clear views down the streets.

A friend of mine went a week before us. It was wall-to-wall people. Her experience was so different from ours that she often jokes we never went to the same place. I'd talk about things that she never got to experience. They basically went and stood in line for rides for hours on end whereas we had the entire Disneyland experience.

Our second trip was roughly the same time only that year Easter weekend fell at the end of our week. It was night and day in terms of crowds. We heard that the park attendance levels were at all-time record highs. It was packed, to say the least. There were rides that we literally walked on the last time that we stood in line for for 45 minutes to an hour. It was a very different experience for us.

I don't know if that gives you any ideas or not. I was told afterwards that the days leading up to Easter are ridiculous. (I didn't even notice Easter on the calendar when I originally booked it. My mistake.)

If our trips had been switched and our second experience had been our first, I don't know if we would have gone back the second time. The first time was downright idyllic! It was like they opened the park just for us, LOL! (Not really, but in our minds it was close enough.) The second time I actually encounter cranky CM's . . . something I thought was a myth. LOL! Totally understandable though, considering what they were being put through that week.

HTH a little!!

I'm interested in when most of the schools are having their Spring Break too. We actually have ours the week before and I'm currently planning a trip from March 22-28.

We are in Texas- Spring Break March 11-15 this year.

A lot of California schools have spring break the weeks just before or just after Easter, no matter when it falls. Those are the most busy weeks.

Your week will be less crowded than the following week, but I doubt it will be empty.

Our spring break is April 1-5 - so the week after Easter. Does anyone know how the week AFTER Easter is crowd-wise?

Wow, such a big spread with the different weeks. At least with the posters so far. Would love others to chime in and let us know when they have their spring breaks! :)

The weeks before and after Easter will be busy. That is when the park will be its busiest. However, CA schools can break for Spring anytime throughout March and during the first few weeks of April.

I'm a "Nazi overplanner" too! Our October trip has been in the works since February..........
We traveled down from Oregon in 2011 during our school spring break (normally end of March) and although there was a lot of rain the first day, it was not as crowded as my last summer trip. The 2 days we had with sunshine were crowded, but we still didn't experience waits over 15-20 minutes (without FP). Overall, it was a great time to go.

We have gone that week a number of times as well as the week before Easter a few times. The week after Easter seems slightly less busy than the week before.

My daughter's school district has two weekd for spring break, March 11 to March 22, then they go to school for fou days, off for four for easter, then back for four. I'm guessing that a lot of parents will take their kids out of school for those four days in between to extend their vacations.

I'm a substitute teacher in a neighbouring school district to my daughter's school, and we only get 1 week, March 18 to 22.

I talked to a Grandmother I know about her trip to Disneyland with her grandson, and she unknowingly went during spring break (the boy was 2 years old, so she could have picked any other time to go!) she said they didn't get to see a single character.

I'm greatful not to be teaching full time, because we're going the 3rd week of September, as we did last year! Dd5 will miss 3 days of kindergarten, but she already can count by 2's to 100 and is starting to learn to read, so I'm hoping her teacher won't be upset! Anyways, if she was sick for 3 days, they wouldn't let her come to school!

Many of our schools (we are 2 hours North of Disney) are on break the weeks before AND after Easter. Almost all the staff at my campus has kids an almost all of them head to DL those weeks. We try to avoid it and just take a day off others days when we know it won't be as busy! (late April/early May).

Most of the DLR visitors are locals, from districts in the SoCal. So the most important Spring Breaks date to see are those for SoCal schools.

I think the schools around Disneyland have April 1st - 12th off here, but someone can correct me if I am wrong.

My school has April 1st - 8th off.

Here are the Spring Breaks I know of for the districts that are close to Disneyland:

April 1st - 11th (For one unified school district - forgot which one)
April 1st - 5th (For another district)

(The dates I am giving you are for the schools that are probably no more than 15-20 minutes away from DL.)

At first I scheduled our vacation for spring break time, but later after talking with a few people I decided to book for June instead. And even though June is busy to and a bit more, I just thought that the parks would be a bit over crowded especially during spring break. :cool2:

Here are a few of the Orange County school calendars. At least it will give us a little idea of what to expect. Most schools are out on either the Friday before or the Monday after Easter, but I didn't list that unless it was part of their regular break.
