Disneyland on Spring Break

My family is tentatively planning a trip for two weeks after Easter next year (ca. April 7-13). Looking at the past few years' schedules, it looks like the 8-midnight schedule lasts for about two weeks before Easter and about two weeks after Easter, so we would be on the tail end of that.

I'm curious as to whether it would be better to go that week, or the week after maybe, when hours are slightly shortened... maybe the crowds will be significantly smaller?

In the bay area our break is April 8-12. We used to always go during spring break. And we'd always see people we knew from school also at Disneyland! Now we go in summer. Crowded, but less packed than it can be at times during spring break. Of course, we had some quiet times, too, but as the years went by it seemed to just get more and more packed each year.

Here are a few of the Orange County school calendars....

That is super helpful! Thanks!

Wow, that's bad! I think we're going to try for the 3rd week in April. We knew during our "year of Disney" that we were going to do one week where we'd take the kids out of school. Now that we've canceled our October trip, April will be the replacement!

I am in WA and we have spring break the first Wk of April, 1-5.
I am thining of going to DL for two days in mid march maybe as I am planning a trip to visit my mom when she is there for 2 mos. Maybe I can find a time in March when they have the Hojo retro rates?

I have found the crowd estimates on Touringplans.com fairly accurate on my two previous trips. There is a small fee to view the calendar and some other aspects of the website. They list the week of March 17th as 9 out of 10 for crowds pretty much all week. The entire month of March is heavy after the 8th. Low crowds are predicted the first week of March. A friend went that week last year and said it was great. I went the last week of April last year after the spring break season and it was also very uncrowded. I'm planning early in February and I'm keeping my fingers crossed more about weather than crowds.

Hope you have a great trip. I'm sure with some planning you can still have a great time during the Spring Break season.

I'm interested in when most of the schools are having their Spring Break too. We actually have ours the week before and I'm currently planning a trip from March 22-28.

Planning a trip for this same week! *high five* Let's hope with SoCal schools out a bit later we'll avoid the worst of the crowds leading up to Easter this year....

On a related note, does anyone know if there's a happy-dance trip-planning thread for March 2013 yet...?

Los Angeles Unified School District is ENORMOUS. If I had to guess, they might have more students than all of those Orange County (where Disneyland is) school districts combined. The LA Unified Spring Break is March 25 - 29.

Here are some from LA, Ventura, and San Diego counties:

Los Angeles Unified: March 25 - 29
Poway Unified (San Diego) March 25 - 29
Simi Valley Unified: March 25 - April 1
Pasadena Unified: March 25 - 29
San Diego Unified: March 29 - April 5
Las Virgenes Unified: April 1 - 5
Ventura Unified: April 1 - 5
Oak Park (Ventura): April 1 - 5
Castaic Unified (Los Angeles): April 1 - 5

So from my random sampling of schools in the greater Los Angeles and surrounding areas, it seems like the last week of March and first week of April are going to be the really bad weeks when the majority of schools are out. This does not account for colleges in the area, as their breaks are different.

Hope this helps.
