Disneyland on Sat in Feb?

We're trying to plan our 5 days at Disney over the 9 full days that we'll be there. I keep reading to avoid the parks on Saturday no matter what, but am wondering how bad it would be, especially if we get there early. We were planning on taking that day as our break day, but we'll only have been there 2 days by then, then will still have a full week left which I'm afraid will burn my kids out.

Disney is the only park we're spending more than one day at (also Legoland, Magic Mountain, Knotts) so I don't want to spend a Sat at one of those because of crowds. Since we'll have 5 days total I'm hoping it won't matter as much. Also the hours are attractive - on Sat (Feb 22), the park's open 8am to midnight (16 hours) as opposed to the midweek 10-8 (10 hours). We wouldn't stay until midnight, but would definitely get there before 8am.

How about this plan - what if we got to DL for opening, stayed until about 9:30, and collected fast passes for later (we'll have AAA unlimited FP's), then hit CA for opening and hit some big rides. Then work around FP's, lunch, break back at hotel, whatever. Or are the crowds so bad that we just won't have any fun. I figure at least by afternoon we could do pin-trading, shopping, arcades, etc.?! Thanks for any input!

Saturdays are crowded but I guess it's all a matter of perspective. By that I mean a Saturday in February is nothing like a Saturday in July or even around Christmas. Of course Presidents Day weekend will probably have quite a crowd. Even then - heck it's Disneyland and just being there can be great if you have the right sort of mind frame and dont have to cram everything in in one day.
Since you have mulitple days there I think you will be fine. We go on Saturdays sometimes (we have AP's) but for us it's not so much about having to fit a lot in in one shot. Also there are things open and going on on busy Saturdays (during the off season) that may not be open or active otherwise. I usually see more characters out and more restaurants open too.

We're going March 1 which may be crazy but it's not at spring break and we use fast passes and just enjoy the shows and atmosphere so I'm sure you and I will both have fun!!!
