Disneyland on points or should we pay cash?

We're planning on our first trip to Disneyland next December(5-10) and I was planning on staying with our points. But I've seen other posters say that they think it's a waste of points, why is that?

I looked into booking in cash but it's pretty expensive 1587.00 for 5 nights at the Paradise Pier with 4 day park hoppers or 125 points for just the room. I keep thinking that since we have the points we should just use them but then part of me thinks that maybe we should just bank them to the next year(2006).

Any opinions? Thanks. :flower:

We used points this past Easter to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and loved it. We wanted to go Disneyland for vacation and since my belief is that my DVC points are for vacation, I used them. The kids loved it, we had Concierge (sp)level because we got a 2 bedroom unit, which are 2 adjoining rooms. We could walk to the parks etc. I think it was a good use for me because it was where I wanted to go for vacation and DVC points are for vacations. Saved me from spending the money.

Because if you rent your points at $10 or per point it is likely that you will easily cover your cash cost of lodging and have money left over. If on the other hand you don't want to rent and you figure your points are worth what you paid for them (probably $5-7 per point) then the decision can be much closer. We found DVC points a better deal than AP codes at WDW this year. It was the opposite last year.

We are also using points for the GC at DL next September. The deal was not great but I think any DL hotels are charging more in 2005 because of the celebration.
