we are heading to DLR the first week of december to celebrate my Dad's 80th Bday. He can't stand for too long, nor can he sit on a curb....but refuses to get into a wheelchair. Are their options to wait on a bench, then move into a standing only reserved section? are there benches available without a blocked view?
I suppose i should ask the same for WoC, and the parades...........

TIA

WOC has benches in the reserved handicapped seating area. Able-bodied family members are not allowed to join the disabled on the benches; they're responsible for standing with other guests.

Is your dad still able to drive? If so, and assuming his reflexes are adequate, he might enjoy renting an ECV -- it would give him mobility without having a family member push the wheel chair. That was DMIL's biggest objection to a wheel chair; she didn't want to impose on any one to push it for her.

The only seating for Fantasmic is the reserved seats with dessert box, and it's $59. There are some brick planters were you can lean, it would require a stretch or hop up to sit. The problem with those is you have to stake them out, and people can come stand right in front of you once the show starts.

I agree with the PPs, renting an ECV could be a solution, there is an area during WoC for people in wheelchairs and ECVs. But, "All reserved viewing areas for the 28-minute World of Color show are standing only." You could do a dinner package, the participating restaurants are Ariel's Grotto, Carthay Circle, and Wine Country Trattoria.

Fantasmic does a dessert sampler party, which gives you a "seat in an elevated section." This is not free and would require a reservation 30 days out.

For the fireworks and parades, he could stake out a bench early but that definitely does not guarantee that people won't stand or sit in front and block his view.
