Disneyland newbie here - a question or two!

I've been to DW a few times, but this is our first DL trip.

DH and I are planning a trip for fall 2019 (most likely first week or two of October). 3 days at DL and then 7 days driving the coast and seeing California.

The DL portion is my 50th birthday part of the trip, the rest (including convertible rental lol) is for our 25th anniversary. Both celebrations are actually in the spring, but our son plays basketball and so there are just too many unknown tournament dates in the spring to try and plan around.

Question - does DL do the celebration buttons like DW does?

And even sillier - does it matter that my 50th was in March but we are there in October? We've only ever done the buttons once at DW for our 20th anniversary, and we were there around the time of the actual date.

We are hoping to rent DVC, we already have a request in with a rental agency (knowing they cannot look until November for us). Crossing fingers that it works out!

Absolutely, DLR does the celebration buttons! And, as CMs say, you are only allowed to wear them 6 months before or 6 months after your birthday! So, I think you'll be safe there. Will you be interested in Mickey's Halloween Party? There should be a few parties during the first two weeks of October. You can look at the 2018 MHP/Halloween Time thread in this forum for info on this year's parties (which will start 9/19/18) to see if they look interesting to you. Halloween Time is one of the highlights of the DLR year!

Thanks!! We may skip the parties - I am hoping the World of Colour dessert party is back up and running by the time we go, that will be my extra splurge for my birthday!

WOC Dessert Party is super fun -- a great way to celebrate a birthday! If you choose to do the Dessert Party on an MHP night, make sure to reserve early (reservations open up 60 days in advance usually -- sometimes a few days after that, give or take). DCA gets crowded with non-party guests on MHP nights. And double check these boards by next summer to make sure that MHP will still be held in DL. Rumor has the party moving over to DCA at some point in the future.
