I was wondering if they are getting rid of or have gotten rid of the old fashioned western shooting range in Frontier Land. It was always one of my favorites as well as a favorite of my kids now. I really hope they don't take this gun thing to far and get rid of it. Anybody hear anything? I mean if they are getting rid of bubble makers then I feel its coming sadly.

I don't know, but that would stink. My two boys AND my husband could spend an hour at the shooting gallery, if I didn't drag them away.

I thought I read in the press release that the shooting exposition would stay.

The press release said they are getting rid of all toy guns for sale within the parks. Things like the shooting exposition, Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story rides, depictions of guns inside other rides will all stay the same.

The shooting range was still there on Thursday, in full operation as we walked past.

One think I know the Glow With The Show developer was working on was a buzz light year gun that kids could shoot at other people's glow with the show ears to trigger them when walking around the park...kinda like laser tag. Even a few years ago he admitted that the biggest hurdle was the perception of "shooting" at other people.

Gonna guess that has been officially scrapped.

So are they not selling the astroblasters anymore either? I had read something on a different post about the removal of the bubble guns, but I just assumed that was because they were annoying for guests.

The Shooting Gallery and Buzz are remaining. They got rid of all types of toy guns, blasters, etc. They now sell bubble wands, so there are still bubbles spread about.

That's interesting.
Using a "magic wand" or what would be like a light saber could be used instead.
Can't remember what is being used instead. Lol

It seems like I have a very distant memory when I was a kid that the shooting gallery actually used BBs. Now, I may be remembering Knott's Berry Farm, but it sure does seem like I was at DL and make the BBs "ding".

I would hope they don't take that part away. My son really likes those shooting games. I think it's very "Frontier". Of course, we can always go down to Bass pro, but it's just better at Disney.

The press release that I read said that the Frontierland shooting gallery is staying. I think it's dumb that they're getting rid of the Buzz Lightyear bubble guns. Those things in no way looked like firearms.

.....well maybe not in 2016, but the shooting gallery will be displaced, first by culture example and then STarwars land will need a customer service facility for purchasing tickets, securing fast passes and admittance tickets into starwars land, so what would make for a place far, far away then the empty shooting gallery

IMHO, I think the whole thing is dumb. Also, how is a TOY gun potentially threatening? And I know a lot of you didn't like the bubble guns, but I thought they were fun.

ETA: You won't need separate tickets for Star Wars land. It's part of the park that you already paid an entrance fee for.

well...the esplanade is large enough to hold folks on Christmas Day who purchased Tickets to enter Disneyland and waiting for hours to enter.....where are all the folks going to stand while waiting to enter Star Wars land??? What we assume to be feasible now may not actually be the future.....be it guns or the reality of a gate with in a gate.
