So I just thought that I would post a trip report about a trip that I went on a couple years ago. It is threw the eyes of me when I was younger... So here it is..
Coming home on a hot friday afternoon after riding our bikes at a local bike trail can be tiring. Mom was in the kitchen home from work early since she would be starting vacation the next monday. She was on the phone and we kept asking what was going on... "Hush Hush Can't you see I am on the phone girls?" She says to my sister and me. So our dad sends us to watch TV. The Rugrats were on and that kept us occupied until the next commercial. So we go back out into the kitcken to see what the parents are talking about. Well they decide to go talk in their room... From there my sister and I go in her room and listen through the wall.. Can't hear much. They finally open the door and explain to us "We are leaving for Disneyland on Suday!" From then my sister and I are excited without and end. My dad says that he has to leave for work and he jets out the door because he is almost late.
After our dad leaves for work we grab a juice from the fridge, get the dog rounded up and leave the house to get the van fixed. It was now 3 pm on a friday afternoon we had to be clear across town by 4:00 in order to get it fixed.. We get there and we are the only ones in the waiting room and they put on a Disney Movie.. It was Babe. That was the shortest 2 hours of my life. It seemed like it would be forever but watching the movie made it go by faster. So it is now almost 6 I think and we need to eat dinner. We stop and get a quick bite to eat and then we are on our way to our Grandparents house who just lives 2 blocks away.
We pick our Grandma up and explain to her what is going on and we go to the mall to shop. 1 mom + 2 excited kids at a mall= Disaster waiting to happen. So we decide that we need new suit cases. We head to the Disney store and pick up some stuff for our trip and notice next door is a suit case store and we buy these nice suit cases.. (I broke one last year
) Then we get a Fathers Day present for our dad. And head home..
We wait up for our dad to get home and can not sleep after that....
Saturday....
We wake up after a sleepless night and head to our dads parents house for Fathers Day and Birthday exchanges. My grandmas birthday happend to fall on Fathers Day... We stay an hour or so and head back home to start packing. I ask my mom "What are we doing with the dog?" She totally forgot about her... So luckly we have neigbors who happen to have the same kind of dog as ours and are from the same litter so they watch her for the next week...... We pack up the van and get the cats into the house, making sure they have a huge bowl of food and water and that there litter box was clean. My dad then does his Travel rituals of killing the weeds with weed killer... weird.. haha.. Then we head to bed...
Sunday.....
It is 4:30 in the morning I wake up and my mom is in the shower. I am bouncing off the walls because we are going to Disneyland again!!! My sister and dad are still sleeping.. They are obviously not morning people. Haha. We get them up and are out of the house by 5:15ish. We stop at the 7-11 and get ice for the ice chest, gum, pop and dougnuts. I realize when we are half way down the street that it is not good to eat dougnuts and chew gum at the same time. So I take the gum out of my mouth and wraped it in a wrapper it was not a good moment.
So we head down the freeway and it is not busy. I look over to my sister and she is sound a sleep.. So I take some pictures of her with her mouth wide open. So we cross the border into California.... Still a long way to go.... I see a bunch of dead cats and deers on the side of the freeway.. Eww.. It is getting near lunch time so we stop and eat our lunch. I do not remember what happens next.... But then outside of Sacramento we eat dinner at a Denny's.. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and lemonaide yum! So we head back out... And decide to drive the rest of the way to Anaheim. We get to near Disneyland is near and can not find it. We are stuck in a traffic jam at 12:30 at night.. Hmn.. This is weird. We get off the freeway and are lost.. So we stop at 3 gas stations and they did not speak English... What luck. So we pull out the cell phone and my dad calls the hotel. What luck the guy does not speak that well of English either.. I am looking through a tree and see a BIG D and then a I... We are there! So we get to our hotel unpack our suit cases and head to bed..
