We might move our August trip to September or October. We've done October a few times so I'm familiar with it. Only did September once....are there any weeks (besides labor day) in Sept that will be extra busy that I need to know about?
Thanks for your help!

After labor week it get very quite until the Halloween Season begins. Next year it may begin on Friday the 14th or 21st.

While some people often complain that it gets crazy when Halloween starts, it is because there was hardly anyone there the week before. It wouldn't seem busy compared to Summer or Spring Break.

Be warned though because it is a time for refurbishments. Also HM will close at the end of August and open for the Halloween Season. Likewise SM closes for a few days prior to reopening with the Ghost Galaxy overlay for the Halloween Season.

Overall it's a great time to go for low crowds, naice and warm but hot weather.

I LOVED our September trip which was right around the first day Halloween decor went up. It was markedly busier on that Friday compared to the day before because APs came out to check out the new stuff. I would totally try to time it similarly again in the future, with a day or so before Halloween decor goes up and a couple days afterward.

Pros:
- most tourists' kids have school so you're really only dealing with AP crowds during the mid-day (so it's nice and empty early morning)
- MHP haven't started yet so you don't get kicked out of DL early
- weather is warm but not super hot

Cons:
- POTC, Blue Bayou, and Screamin were down for refurbishment
- fewer showtimes as it's the off-season

Hope this helps!

You can go to DL website and find out what dates for refurbishments will be and what days they will have shows, parades ect.

Yes, definitely check the official calendar when it's released (60 days beforehand?). I also checked the prior year's calendar just to get a sense of what happened then. Since most people plan more than 2 months in advance to get the best hotel deals, you do take a risk that your favorite ride could be down for refurb. I was super disappointed to see POTC down this year, as it's one of my favorites but oh well, it was the tradeoff.
